As a Web optimization specialist I spend a good deal of time seeking out the best designers from around the country and around the world. We swap industry insider tips. They teach me about Web design and I show them how to get their beautiful sites to the top of Google, MSN and Yahoo. It's a match made in heaven. The most recent collaboration was a huge success that helped both of us get just what we wanted so we decided to publish our findings for anyone interested. That said; here is an interview with a New York Web design company.

What makes a New York Web design company any different from other Web design companies? That's easy... Competition. Just look at how many design firms there are out there and you will see what I mean! In the city or outside, someone seeking high quality Web design in New York faces hundreds of choices in an area of just a few city blocks. Now that's competition!

If you are not from the area it can be difficult to envision. This might help... Imagine typing "New York web design" into Google's search box and getting hundreds of pages with thousands of links of returns. Instead of clicking on those links however, you're walking into hundreds of offices; each offering their own unique flavor of Web design.

But, with the competition comes a competitive edge that is critical in a struggling economy. Of course we all want to look good on the Internet, but when you're competing with your real live neighbors in addition to those online; you have to step it up a notch.

With that said, I provide some inside advice from a successful New York Web design firm. Let's focus our attention on Website usability. This has the unfortunate distinction of being both the most important yet generally least considered aspect of design all too often and the Website owners suffer for the oversights.

First off, most people do not really read a Web page at first glance; they scan it to see if there is something worth actually reading. You need to get their attention right away and keep it. Here's how...

1.) Jump in with your most powerful content right off the bat. Grab their attention immediately and keep it. Don't save the best for last unless you have something nearly as good to lead the reader there.

2.) Make sure your functional areas are consistent, as much as possible, throughout your site. This is especially true of the navigation links (top, left, right, etc.) search fields, logins, and anything else needing user interaction. The more at ease your visitor feels working through the site, the more likely he or she is to stay for a while and go even deeper.

3.) Embed a link to your homepage within your company logo. This is expected by just about every site visitor who has been on the Web for any length of time. It's a safety net many users rely and to deny it could result in major inconvenience to your visitors.

4.) Add a search box in an easy to find, consistent location. And be certain it searches ONLY within your Website. Having a search feature that offers to "Search The Web" gives your visitors an invitation to leave your site. Why would you want that?

Secondly, keep in mind that search engines will also be looking at your site. Making it pretty is not enough. It needs to attract the search engine as much as live visitors if you ever expect those live visitors to find it in the first place. This is known as search engine optimization, or SEO. It's more complicated today than in years past but still quite doable. Here are three "must do" tasks for you to complete if you want your site on top of Google.

1.) Use keywords as anchor text (the visible clickable words) in your links throughout your page's content. This is huge! Allow me to demonstrate how powerful this one element can be.

Navigate to Google.com and conduct a search for the term "Clíck Here" (no quotes.) Take note of two things right away... Number one, there are more than 1.6 billion other (competing) Web pages. Number two, the top match returned is a link to Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Ready for a surprise? The term Clíck Here is not anywhere on the page text or META tags. The page is number one, out of 1.6 Billion pages, because thousands of Web pages supplying a link to Acrobat "Clíck Here" as their anchor text of choice. Amazíng, isn't it?

This is great news for you! You can easily take advantage of that power by linking to and from pages within your Website. Which leads us nicely into Tip number two...

2.) If you deem that SEO is a priority for your site, create a unique page for each of your main keywords. Just be sure to link the anchor text from each page to the page that has that specific keyword as its focus.

Industry Advice: If you are a blog specialist or Web designer by trade, offering SEO as part of your services is a natural fit that can double the value of your work, or more. With so many good SEO products available to help you get professional results with minimal effort, you can usually rely on reputation as a good indicator of potential success. For example, eBay, Motorola and Lexmark all stake their online success on a tool you can get for $250 at iBusinessPR0M0TER.com.

3.) Relevant anchor text should also be at the top of your mind when you are requesting inbound links from other sites. This is what Google uses as its strongest measurement to gauge the quality of your pages.

This is how you can build your brand using your words. Getting visitors there is only half the battle, keeping them is a whole different ballgame.

Now, similar to tip number 2, you want to request specific keywords be used in the anchor text leading to your pages from other sites. And be sure to request each link to the most appropriate page. Just linking to the homepage doesn't cut it anymore.

Warning: Avoid reciprocal link farms like the plague! They are so easy for Google to spot it's a joke.

If you are in need of quality links but don't have time to setup link partnerships yourself, you may want to try a service that facilitates "3 way linking" like the one at 3WayLinker.

It's very simple and really pretty ingenious. Here's how it works... Site 1 links to Site 2. Site 2" links to Site 3. And Site 3 links to Site 1 forming an indirect chain of one way links.

That's all for now. Good luck!

These are some ways to detects internet scams before you fall victim.

1.) Lending scams – when you get proposals from lenders that promise you a very fast processor.

2) Gadget scams - selling gadgets like television sets, and cell phones at very low and attractive price. Items that are not yet available in the market may even be offered for sale and you normally receive so many posts in one advertisement

3) Receiving a message from a propose heir- Most scams find this the most attractive way to milk unsuspecting victims. Always watch out for mails where people solicit for your help to claim certain millions of dollars they inherited in returns to compensate you.

4.) Unknowingly Buying scam wherein they post a message to an existing advertisement that they have a close relation residing in your country and they wanted to buy your item.

5) Spam Emails- Emails you receive without your subscriptions mostly turn out to be spam mails. Senders of such mail use email extractor and spiders to extract multiple emails and send. Never reply to mails that you don’t subscribe to.

6) If the advertisement owner is asking you to pay through wired service like Western Union.

7) Always do a search for the company (Google search will come in handy here). If the company truly exists, more or less you can get some more information, just be more resourceful as some scams clone some website and use the name of existing companies for their trades. In any case before entering a site, first type (https://www instead of http://www) since https represents a secured site. Never enter a site without using the secured connection. If you find the company website, check if the advertisement product is on their product. Secured connections have some security features that scams find impossible to penetrate

8.) Always Inquire personal or business information from any of your prospective clients by using the country’s business directory or any personal verifiable means.

9) Try as much as possible to make a physical contact with the person, as most scams will take flight because they love to avoid physical contact.

10) Don’t be too over excited about any offer Most scams can be avoided if you take due diligence on your own part to do a proper research.

In order to rank high on search engines, first of all you need to allow search engines to find your website. Search engines use a program known as Spiders to locate new website. When spiders find your website, they will indexed your site and store it in their databases. However, for newer sites, sometimes it is hard to get indexed by them.

What many people do is to manually submit their sites to Google and Yahoo, and what I can tell you is that there is no need to do that. Let me share with you 5 tips to get your website indexed by search engines quickly:

1. Include a sitemap.xml file in your root directory. This xml file consists of the URLs of all pages on your site which will facilitate crawling of your website by spiders. Once you have uploaded it to your root directory, you should set up a Google Webmaster account and point the sitemap.xml to it.

2. Get rid of any roadblock that prevents spiders from reading the content of your site. If your website is a coded entirely on flash or frames, it is hard for spiders to crawl your website. If they do not crawl your website, your site will not be indexed and it will not appear on the organic listings of search engines.

3. Submit your site to social bookmarking platforms. The best way to get your site noticed by search engines is to let them naturally stumble across it. One way is to submit your site to popular social bookmarking platforms like Digg, Reddit, and StumbleUpon. Spiders usually visit these sites multiple times in a single day. This is why if you bookmark your site, you stand a very high chance for it to be found and indexed.

4. Get a backlink from a website with high PageRank (PR). Getting a high PR backlink to your site definitely paves the way for successful indexing and possible good organic rankings on search engines. Directory linking and submission is one of my favourite ways to get backlinks. Target those directories with high PR and submit your website to them. Some of the popular directories such as Yahoo may require you to pay, which I think will be well worth the money.

5. Write articles and submit to popular article directories. Article marketing is a great way to get your site indexed by search engines, as well as generate good traffic to your website. Include a link to your site in your articles and submit them to popular article directories like EzineArticles and GoArticles. Spiders visit these directories often and once they crawl your article, they will follow the link in it and find your website.

Getting your site indexed by search engines is definitely a must in order to have good organic rankings for your site. So, try out the tips above and get your site indexed now!

The best way to guarantee that you receive high quality, targeted traffic from your pay per click campaigns is to use only exact match keywords. This works fine if you are competing in an industry in which there is excess available keyword inventory, or when your budget is very limited. Often, however, due to strong competition for the top keywords or limited keyword inventory, you will need to use a more broad strategy. This opens you up to the possibility of having your ads displayed for non-relevant searches. The way around this problem is to use negative keywords to fine-tune you campaigns.

Negative keywords are keywords you specify that should not be included in search queries that trigger your ad. For example, if you provide services in one particular city but not another, you could use negative keywords to exclude your ad from being displayed from searches that contain the city where you do not do business.

Another example would be if you offer language translation services. If you run ads for the broad match keyword "Chinese symbols", chances are very good that you will generate a lot of traffic from people looking to have words translated into Chinese symbols for decorative purposes such as tattoos. So a good negative keyword in this instance would be "tattoo" because it would filter out people looking for Chinese symbols for tattoos, as opposed to more serious business matters.

As you run your campaign, it really helps to know what keywords people are actually using that trigger your ad at inappropriate times. In Google, you can generate a search query report that will provide this information. Run the report and then examine it for search phrases that triggered your ad that should not have. Then add those negative keywords to your account. Google lets you add negative keywords at the account or campaign level. If the keywords are ones for which you NEVER want your ad to display under any circumstance, then you should add it at the account level.

Use negative keywords to fine-tune the traffic that your web site receives via paid search. It will allow you to operate under a more broad strategy, but still limit your traffic to that that is the most appropriate. It is a power strategy that will help you improve your paid search return on ad spend by better focusing your marketing dollars.

Focus is the key to success in any type of marketing. If you broadcast your marketing message to the whole world, via mass distribution channels (or the Internet), you are going to be paying for a lot of set of eyes and ears that have no interest in your product or service. That is the advantage that search engine marketing has over traditional marketing to start with. When negative keywords are added to the equation, it increases the focusing process even further, turning your marketing message into a laser guided missile that only attacks the very best, most targeted prospects. It's a technique you should start using today.

If you are running your business primarily from the Internet, then one of the main things that you will need is traffic to your site. There is a direct correlation between the amount of traffic that you receive to your site and how successful you are online. One of the ways that you can increase your website traffic is by submitting inner links, or pages, of your website to a deep links directory. By doing this, you will increase the chances that your website is ranked better in the search engines; and as a result, you receive more visitors.

One of the reasons that people visit the link directories is because they need to find what they are looking for quickly and do not have extra time to waste. Savvy Internet surfers know that when they are looking for an article on a specific topic that the best way to find one is by visiting a web directory that features deep links to websites.

One of the most annoying things, as cited by many web surfers, is having to search through tons of junk just to find what they are looking for on a site. Deep link directories help you to avoid this pitfall. Instead of surfing through an entire site, visitors can find exactly what they are looking for with a single click of the mouse. Deep link web directories offers surfers this ability.

Whenever you submit web pages on your site besides your home page to a deep links directory, you make it easier for visitors to find the information they are searching for on your website. People are more inclined to bookmark your website when you make it easy for them to find information that they are looking for. And once they know that your site is easy to navigate, they are more likely to return and also to invite friends, relatives, and family. It is proven that repeat website traffic, as well as referrals, is the best kind of traffic to receive. A deep link directory can help your online business accomplish this goal.

There are numerous advantages to submitting your website to a deep link directory. What is not to love about free traffic that boosts your online business' profit potential? In addition, your visitors return and invite others also, which all means more profits for you. And since submissions to deep link directories are often free, you have nothing to lose but if you moments of time.

Why is Ed Spam Still so Popular?

Posted In: . By dens

Author: Brian Welsch

Mankind has always been concerned about the ability (or lack thereof) to get an erection. However, mankind is also not to admit to anyone that he has trouble getting an erection, as mankind could then become suddenly manUNkind. Although we laugh about it now, in some ancient cultures, not being able to get an erection could mean you loose your throne and your social standing. Viagra spam happened a long time before the invention of Viagra or spam.

Doctor, Doctor

Some of the oldest magical spells and herbal remedies have been to cure impotence or to make a man's current performance better. Getting impotence cures was always something done in back allies or under the table. It was never talked about in the open. This was especially important since many civilizations say an infertile king or ruler as a sign that the Gods were somehow angry.

Although we are more open about impotence (erectile dysfunction), we still don't like to actually admit to anyone we know that we need a little help. This is one reason why Viagra spam is one of the most common forms of spam on the Internet. If your spam isn't about money, then it's about getting a better sex life. Getting Viagra through an Internet site seems an anonymous way to get medicine.

Danger, Danger

Most Viagra spam is a scam and nothing else. These are phishing emails, hoping that you will click on the links provided and willingly give your credit card or other personal information to the wonderful web sites they lead you to. These sites can also load malware malicious software) onto your computer's hard drive, making your personal data readable to a cyber criminal.

Keep Your Hopes Up

However, not all Viagra websites are connected to scams or cyber criminals. You should immediately delete all Viagra spam sent your way. However, if you go to a legal medication website, then ask them to send you an email, that's different. That's not Viagra spam , because this is email that you have requested.

One of the reasons Viagra (and, therefore, Viagra spam ) is so popular is that it is one of the most successful medicines that actually does what it claims it will do. Viagra doesn't work for every man with sexual dysfunctions. There are also some severe side affects. This is why you need to go to your doctor first, get a prescription for Viagra and then go to a legal medicine website.

Google Is Everything! Or Is It?

Posted In: . By dens

Author: Bill Platt (c) 2008 the Phantom Writers

As an article marketer, I say things that I believe will help other people accomplish their goals. As a widely published article writer, I am often criticized for the words I write. ;-)

In July of 2008, I wrote an article about meta-search engines called, "Look Beyond Google: Meta-Search Engines Can Help Online Marketers". In this article, the basic concept I was trying to share was that Internet Marketers should look beyond the presence of Google, to find more ways to drive traffic to their websites.

The Google Religion

This article apparently struck a chord of truth with a lot of people, as its reprint results are much larger than even I expected.

The article was also reprinted on the Link Referral website by someone who seems to have appreciated the article.

The first response to the post at the Link Referral website read as follows: "Thanks for the useless post. Google is everything. If you cannot be found on Google, pray for MSN and Yahoo. Anything else will give you 1 hit in 100 years. Link exchanging and buying ads would be so much more effective than buying into that article."

Now, don't get me wrong. I am not the least bit annoyed that someone criticized my article. The fact that someone criticized the article is only a testimony to the fact that my words touched the nerve of someone who worships the Google religion. I don't want to offend anyone's religion... That would be wrong...

Of course, this is not the first time I have offended those who preach the tenets of the Google religion. I also wrote about this subject in an article about Creating Page Rank, which can be read at: http://www.keywordtext.com/pudding/28.html. This article also drew criticism by those who mocked my assertion that people can truly generate substantial traffic from sources other than Google and that Google PageRank is not as important as many claim.

Answering My Critics

I will admit that if a website is not listed in Google, the task of trying to make monëy online is made more difficult.

But if a website is not ranked in Google, and it does not possess links to it from anywhere else either, then you might as well be working at McDonald's for extra money, as opposed to trying to make monëy online.

Honestly, Google is only "everything" when you have "nothing but Google" on the table.

The Proof Is In The Pudding

This is not just an opinion I hold. I can back up what I am saying with real data, from a real website that does not rely upon Google for its salvation... The statistics shown here are from my primary website: thephantomwriters.com

Even though I do not rely on Google for traffic, Google delivers a great deal of traffic to my website. I actually do quite well in the Google game. I get lots of Google Love for my website, as described here:

http://article-blog.thephantomwriters.com/google-love/2008/08/09

Nothing But The Facts

The following data reflects the traffic for The Phantom Writers for both 2007 and 2008 (through Aug 15th):

Total Unique Visitors
* 2007: 244,000+
* 2008: 169,000+

Total Page Views
* 2007: 1.2+ million
* 2008: 1.0+ million+

Unique Clicks from All Search Engines (59 in 2007; 58 in 2008)
* 2007: 119,309
* 2008: 129,749

Unique Clicks from Google
* 2007: 61,923
* 2008: 75,750

Unique Clicks from Yahoo, Windows Live, Ask, and MSN Search
* 2007: 49,291
* 2008: 50,148

Unique Clicks from Other 54/53 Search Engines
* 2007: 8,095
* 2008: 3,851

Important Data Analysis

In 2007, with 244,000+ total visitors and 61,923 visitors from Google, I would have had to turn away 182,077 visitors or 74.6% of my traffic in 2007, if I had relied solely upon Google to drive traffic to my website.

In 2008, with 169,000+ total visitors and only 75,750 of those visitors coming from Google, I would have had to turn away 93,250 visitors or 55% of my traffic, if I relied solely upon Google to deliver visitors to my website.

With 61,923 visitors from Google in 2007 and 93,250 visitors from Google so far in 2008, it is sure that Google is important.

I wonder how many of my critics are actually seeing 61,923 visitors per year? I suspect that many of those who claim that my advice is bad would be tickled pink to see my Google traffic to their websites. And I bet they would be shocked to realize that non-Google sources account for more traffíc for my website than their Google God does.

Beyond Google

In 2007, my website receíved 119,309 total visitors from all of the search engines combined, but only 61,923 of those people came from Google. That leaves 57,386 people who arrived on my website from the 58 search engines that are not Google. In the search category, Google accounted for 51.9% of my total search traffic.

The top five search engines accounted for 93.2% of my search traffic.

Had I ignored those unknown search engines, as my critics suggest others should, I would have been forced to turn away a full 8,095 people or 3% of all of my visitors in 2007. That is a far cry from "one hit in 100 years".

So far in 2008, Google has accounted for 58% of my total search traffic and only 45% of my global traffic.

The top five search engines have accounted for 95% of my search traffic. Those itty-bitty search engines have delivered 3,851 visitors to my website so far this year, accounting for 2.96% of all of my gross traffic in '08.

Itty-bitty is historically worth at least 3% of my yearly traffic. If you want to ignore that 3%, then that is your business. But myself, I am happy to receive traffic from anywhere that I can gain that traffic.

Beyond The Search Engines

As the owner of a professional article marketing company, who practices what he preaches, 90% of my advertising budget is spent on article marketing alone.

This is where the following two pieces of data come into play:

Unique Non-Search URL's Sending Traffic
* 2007: 9,036
* 2008: 5,811

Unique Visitors from Non-Search URL's
* 2007: 27,397
* 2008: 23,907

The remainder of my website's traffic comes from articles published in newsletters and on other websites, recommendations by other websites, bookmarks and name recognition.

In 2007, my website receíved 27,397 visitors from 9,036 verifiable links to my website from articles that we wrote or from recommendations people made for my website. Of course, I am willing to bet that many of the 97,294 visitors who were untrackable in 2007 were the result of the many articles of mine that were published in newsletters.

In 2008, my website has so far pulled 23,907 visitors from 5,811 verifiable external URLs. There have so far been another 15,344 visitors that I receíved from untrackable sources, many of which were probably from the articles that we have successfully had published in newsletters.

The article marketing that we do provides a lot of verifiable traffic to our website, and potentially a lot of our untrackable traffic was also derived from the article marketing we do.

In the end, we credít article marketing for our great search engine placement, for hundreds of keywords, and our substantial search traffic as well.

One Quarter Million Reasons Why Google Is Not God

If I believed the poster who said that "Google is everything" and I had followed his advice for the last several years, then I would have had to turn away 275,327 additional visitors to my website in the past 20 months!

OMG!!! To think that I could have turned away a quarter million visitors or 67% of all of my websites' traffic, if I had simply followed the advice of my critics.

Wow! Some of my critics are absolute idiots!

Yes, Google is important. But, is Google really "everything" ? Only if you want to fail...

Here is an article I am writing to show readers and students some of the high value that Keyword Discovery offers.

One thing that is extremely important to point out is that the KEI "Keyword Effectiveness System" is completely different in Wordtracker than in Keyword Universe. I'm not saying that one is better than the other. They are just different. KEI is only brought about as a mathematical equation and is the ultimate means for making decisions. It is just a tool. The KEI in Wordtracker is 0 (being a weaker opportunity) to 400 being a better opportunity and generally the higher the better. However, in Keyword Discovery the KEI runs from 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest.

For a long time readers have wanted to be able to get more accuracy in terms of what true volume a keyword is searched for. Of course nothing is ever absolutely perfect but here is the area I want you to take a look at inside of Keyword Discovery if you are a member.

If you are not a member you can sign up for a free trial at Keyword Discovery here.

Would you like to see some pretty interesting results concerning volumes and break down of data for "industry related terms."

Then check out Keyword Discovery's Industry Terms Methodology:

* The search terms extracted are then presented in the "Query" column. * The "Searches" column reports the number of searches from the Global Premium KeywordDiscovery database for that search term. * The "Volume" indicates the percentage of clicks that all the web sites in this DMOZ category receive from each search term.

For example:

Under the heading of "recreation" I chose the term "Birds" which has a volume of 1.22% under the "recreation category." This means 1.22% of all websites categorized under the recreation category are receiving traffic from the keyword, "birds".

When I click on the word "birds" I get a further breakdown that included terms like:

* birds * pet birds * wild birds * birds of prey * humming birds * etc..etc

From this list I chose to click on the phrase "humming birds."

Keep in mind that the volume figures from the industrial terms in Keyword Discovery are calculated by analyzing actual traffic received by sites in this category. This means that it only includes successful searches. This also means that many search terms are not included in this Industry Term database in cases where successful searches, resulting in click throughs to websites that are not indexed by DMOZ. But the information is excellent.

Also note that you can literally look at historical data to analyze trends. Of course some people's search habits change and some things never seem to change. Any way you look at it, the historical data is fascinating.

Next, we click on the phrase "humming birds" again and Keyword Discovery begins showing us some mild behavioral interests such as users seem to want to know more about how to attract humming birds or pictures of humming birds or even about humming birds from a specific area...like Taiwan.

Don't forget you can dig fairly deep and for any phrase you can see the historical data or the trends too which is extremely helpful. Try it for yourself and you'll see what I mean.

What I like most about this Keyword Discovery interface is that within seconds you can identify "historical trends" very easily plus you are looking at genuine volume as opposed to just a figure generated by some math equation.

Watch for some very light revealing behaviors, but the ability to identify peak trends based on seasonally related promotions is exceptional. For this example, I chose something random from the list, but give this feature a whirl around something like Christmas or Halloween or Mothers Day or the 4th of July and I think you'll begin to see it's value for seasonal promotions.

Did I miss anything?

I am sure I did, but I intend on writing much more about many of the features available in Keyword Discovery. I hoped you enjoyed this brief tutorial on Keyword Discovery. There will be much more in the future.

It's easy. Just type your subject in quotes in Google's search box. This is one of the quickest and easiest ways to test your search marketing efforts. Each week you can track which of your search marketing efforts is paying off and which isn't doing so well. The results may surprise you.

For instance, you might be surprised to see your Craigslist ad showing up surprisingly high in your Googleprint. Placing an ad on Craigslist not only gets your name out but also gets you site picked up by the search engines.

You can also find out what doesn't work; for instance, all those URLs you stuck on Twitter are fun but probably don't count for much. Using search Googleprints is also a good way to see what your competitors are doing. If they are buying Google search words that will turn up too.

And don't forget to click past the first page and examine other pages. Every now and then look at the first five pages to get a sense of what is happening on the lesser hits, especially if your search is a big generic one.

So how can one tell just what is going on? Much has been said about figuring out the Google algorithms or the way Google comes up with its search results. Forget it.

Even an engineer would have trouble figuring out exactly what Google is up to and Google certainly doesn't want to let the cat out of the bag. Those algorithms are Google's greatest intellectual property.

The truth is the Google algorithms change on a regular basis and if you are monitoring your Googleprint you can see how search results change when algorithms change. Sometimes these changes can be somewhat dramatic significantly changing your Google footprint. But you won't know unless you are tracking your Googleprint.

It's obviously important to remember that yours is not to reason why. Your chore is to see the application and results of the Google algorithms. If you begin to see the results, you can begin to understand the bigger picture and how that affects your search marketing efforts.

Don't expect any great revelations, but if you keep a steady finger on the pulse of the algorithms they will begin to make sense.

The basics don't change very much and they are most important; change your homepage with fresh, original content daily, focus on keywords and keyword strings and publish, link and backlink as much as possible. Avoid scams and spam.

Regular Googleprints also help you check for spammers and scammers that affect your Googleprint; in fact, you may have recourse.

For instance, a short while back when checking my Googleprint I was dismayed to see that the number one hit was a scam. This scam had lifted my name and business name and had posted it on a website that was selling porn.

I flagged and reported the site, as well as probably hundreds others also did. Within 24 hours it was gone; barred by the Google God. Or Goddess. Or their Googlenesses. The lesson here is take action and don't panic. Panic gets you nowhere when dealing in the search world.

If you are just starting out with your search marketing efforts, make a weekly copy of your Googleprint and save it for reference. Over a period of time you can review your Googleprint snapshots and see which of your search marketing efforts is more effective.

You can also check your Yahooprint and MSNprint as well. But clearly Google, as the biggest and most important search engine, is critical to search marketing and your search marketing campaigns.

Think search.

Every blog marketer knows the importance of having a list. It can't be stressed enough. The bigger the list, the more business potential you have at your fingertips. It is essential that you know how to use your blog to build your email list exponentially to keep that potential alive and flourishing. So how do you do that?

The most obvious and basic thing you can do to encourage sign ups is to provide genuinely helpful and unique content. If you do nothing else, practice this essential consistently to ensure return readers and interested opt-ins.

If you are providing a blog that people are considering valuable, they will be easily encouraged to share and forward your newsletter to others. Naturally, your newsletter should have an opt-in box for the recipients to easily register with. This step presents the opportunity to double your list of email addresses. Think about that - double, with very little effort. All you're doing is asking your readers to share. If they're enjoying your writing, they'll be happy to oblige.

Should you find that you're not getting as many referrals as you'd hoped from doing the above, try a little motivation.

Offer an incentive to those who help you increase your number of registrants. It doesn't have to be costly, though you could offer cash payable through PayPal. People are often pleased to receive a free report about a subject they're interested in that pertains to your business.

If you really want to thrill and excite them into helping you, offer to write a blog post about them. Every person who brings you X number of new sign ups will have their business highlighted on your blog.

You may already be offering a free report on your blog site to entice new sign ups. If so, don't forget to explain that the email address being entered will be added to your list. People don't like feeling that they've been tricked onto a list. Honesty may lose you an address or two, but will win you an integrity that will take you much farther.

Along the same vein, give your readers a feeling of being in control by segmenting your lists according to subject matter. Readers can then sign up only for the topics they're interested in.

Why not try something that survey sites use? Offer a contest ballot each time a reader gets a referral to join your list. The prize could be anything mentioned above, or something else your loyal supporters deem worth winning.

Another benefit to the personal touch is that your readers will feel part of a fold that has the inside track to success. It creates a team atmosphere that will in turn create motivation to help build your list. When this happens, you have people on board that feel rewarded and really want to help. The more interested and involved your opt-ins are, the better your list and therefore the selling potential within it.

Tons of people are using their blogs to implement subscriptions, as well as increase their numbers and keep everyone happy that they signed up in the first place. Have fun with the process and enjoy the interactions with your faithful readers, and the subsequent increase in sales.

Once you learn how to use your blog to build your email list, you'll wish you'd started using the strategy sooner. It's easy, and only involves a little work. The return you'll get on the time spent will be more than worth it.

No one likes spam email - customers, clients, and even business owners cannot always handle the amount of spam that comes from one email address placed in a public space on the web. So if you have a website, you will want to check out these five tips that will help to reduce the spam that gets into your inbox.

1. Limit the number of emails that you give out to your customers and post on websites. If you post more than one email address on a website, you will experience twice as many unwanted emails. And if you run a business, you should never post your personal email anywhere on your website.
2. You can include tools such as CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart). This is a small box on your website where you can have words or numbers that come up and the visitors to your site will have to type these in before they are allowed to send messages to you. This prevents automated spam from slipping through.
3. Use web forms instead of giving out your email address. This will let your visitors contact you without ever having to see your email address. This may not cut down on all the spam, but at least you know the spam you are getting was typed by a real person.
4. If you need to give out your email address, spell it out on your website. Leave out the @ symbol so that it is harder for spam bots to recognize it as an email address. Customers that want to send you an email will understand what you mean when you spell it out. Better still create a jpg/gif images of your email address, so that the visitor/customer can see your email address, but the spammers will no be able to find it so easily.
5. If all else fails, you can require a registration for your website. This will let visitors leave you comments and questions. This prevents any spam bots from contacting you or pulling your email address from your website.

These tips are just some of the ways that you can prevent spam on your website. There are obviously many more but this should help to heavy reduce the level of spam emails you receive. If you have a paid web hosting service, most providers now have Junk Mail Filtering services including with their hosting plans or at an additional charge.

If you are trying to help your website reach the top of the search engines for your keywords, one of the best and most effective ways to help your efforts is to attach a blog to your website and keep it updated on a regular basis. One of the most important things to Google is how often a website is updated. To improve your search engine ranking dramatically, you should be updating your blog at least weekly, with 100% unique content.

Within your content, you need to make sure that you mention your keyword(s) frequently, just like you do on your website. You should also make an effort to link out to at least two different pages on your site or other blog posts to help build internal links. This is the juice that fuels SEO.

At this point, you might be in a bit of a panic if you don't have a blog on your website. Guess what, you shouldn't be! There are quite a few blog programs that are absolutely free for you and I to use. If you use certain blog software, you can even install plug-ins that will assist you with your SEO and help you move your website higher and higher in the search engines.

One of the best blog software that you can find today is called Word Press. Word Press is absolutely free for anyone to use. Word Press is a slick content management systems that allows the use of plug-ins to make your life easy while blogging.

One of the very best SEO plug-ins that can be used with Word Press is the "All in One SEO" plug-in. This plug-in allows you to make each of your blog posts and blog pages optimizable for the search engines, but allowing you to add a unique title, description, and keywords to everything. This very small and simple step will help you set your website and more important, your blog apart from all of your competitors that are not taking these additional steps to tell Google exactly what your site is about.

SEO is rather simple, it is all about providing the search engines with fresh, unique content that is optimized to tell Google exactly what it is and how it relates to your website. If you take the steps necessary to optimize your website properly and add an optimized blog to your marketing mix, you will be able to accomplish your goals in reaching new search engine heights.

It is a common misconception that you need to have an extensive team of professionals that can create the ideal website for you and your business to start booming. The reality is that you know your business, your niche and how your organization fits into these better than any marketing person that you may hire to do your promotion. Of course marketing experts know lots of valuable information about getting your message out there, after all its their job and its likely that you will do much better getting an expert on board to help you in achieving your goals. However, the most crucial person that also needs to spend time promoting your business is you.

Web designers and marketing specialists can help you develop just the kind of website that will see your sales go through the roof, but they also need your input. No one knows your business better than you, and if you do not take the time to share that knowledge with the experts to help them sell your unique business attributes, then you could literally be selling your business short.

All marketing is focused on generating more sales, and for this reason you want to be involved with helping the marketer achieve this goal. Outsourcing marketing lets you get an expert to assist you in this process, but the most important thing that you can give to the marketer is your time and knowledge of your business and your products. The significance of this is that most small to mid sized businesses have three primary internet marketing options available to them; Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Pay Per Click Advertising (PPC), or Blogging & Social Media Marketing. So lets look at why you need to be actively involved in marketing via these methods.

One common misconception is that SEO is something that your website designer will do for you, but thinking this way is a bad trap to fall into. You will need to be commited to doing ongoing work on your SEO, sourcing new keywords, updating older ones and refining which words you select. This is important because consumer trends can change over time and new developments in products may cause a shift in your business focus. All of these reasons are why you, the business owner and specialist in your area, need to be certain that your SEO remains up to date with what your business is doing. It will be worth your while to take a little time to fully understand the SEO process and how you can make it work for your business, long after your web page designers have finished putting your site together.

The most efficient form of advertising for many small to medium sized businesses is Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. This does not necessarily take a lot of time to implement, but a remarkably large number of people do not know how to effectively implement tracking on their PPC advertising. The key here is that as with the other forms of marketing mentioned, you need to dedicate the necessary time to get this to work. Establishing a PPC campaign necessitates you to monitor it effectively to ensure that you are tracking your ROI and are able to implement the necessary updates and fine tuning of your campaign to truly generate the sales you are looking for.

Finally, if you are looking at doing social media marketing or blogging then you really need to be prepared to dedicate the time required to making these work. The unique advantage of these forms of marketing stem from the personalized nature of them, so this is your chance to get your message heard and be certain that you are demonstrating the dynamism and skills that you particularly have as a business person. Both blogging and social media are the kind of tools that require a good blend of marketing, sales, networking and writing skills to ensure success. The personalized nature of these things makes it impossible to truly outsource this, so being committed to dedicating the time necessary is again crucial to the success. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that this is time well spent.

There is no defined amount of time that you can nominate as the ideal or target amount to achieve success. Basically you need to focus on making sure that your time is well spent. The key element that the business owner brings is their knowledge, and the only real measure of success will come if you have implemented good measures of ROI. As a rule stay focused on what you wish to achieve, be sure that you have the necessary measurement tools in place and accept that as with many things, the more time you dedicate the more positive the results you will generate.

There are so many different ways that people can get email addresses these days. All you need to do is find a site that offers email addresses and sign. But have you ever notice that even when you don't share your new address, you can end up with a half a dozen spam emails in your box a few hours later? If you want to get rid of this nasty problem, take a look at the following steps.

First, if you are so annoyed by spam that you can't take it anymore, you can purchase and internet spam filter. These are usually less than $50 and can easily stop spam before it ever reaches your inbox. One or two messages still may find their way through the filter, but it is better than the dozen you used to get ever hour.

If you have your own domain name, then ask your provider if the provide a spam filter or it's sometimes known as a Junk mail filter service. A large number of ISP's and Web Hosting Company do offer spam filters and even virus scanning. So if your one doesn't it might be worthwhile doing some research and finding one that does!

One of the big mistakes made by many people when setting up email addresses with their ISP or Web Hosting Company is to use their catch-all filter. Although this will catch anything@yourdomain.com it also gives spammers the same option and they will use it!

Another quick way to get rid of spam is to have multiple email addresses. One address can be used for you correspondence with business associated, friends, and family members. This address should only be given out to trusted individuals. The other email address can be used for anything that you want - if you want to sign up for newsletters, chat rooms, or if you order products online. If too much spam gets into this address, all you have to do it dump it and get a new one.

Remember that creativity with your email address is also a way to stop spam. The more letters and numbers that you use, the harder it is for someone to capture your address and start sending you spam.

If the spam gets too much, or it's the same thing or and over again, you can take the time to report it. This is one way that you can take a step is stopping spam for everyone, and not just yourself.

If you ever have wanted to know if it was possible to build a powerful email list using free methods then you should read this article on free list building tips.

Seven Free List Building Tips

(1) Create a blog

Go to Blogger.com and create a free blog account. Now post about 5-10 short (250-300 word) “news they can use” how-to articles or check lists or helpful tips. At the bottom of each post include a link to the email list “squeeze page” on your main website.

(2) Post Comments

Go to Technorati.com and search for your keyword or by using the ”Blogs” resource button. This should bring up a list blogs that you can start watching. Pick 2-3 to watch and track. Now over the next 30 days, write comments (with a weblink to your website) to posts that you like or dislike.

Don’t do lame stuff like, “This sucks!” or “Great job!” and expect anyone to click on your weblink. Take a minute or two to add some well thought out opinions before you write. People will click on links to learn more about people who understand and think like themselves.

(3) Forum Posts

Find a forum or discussion board of people who are within your niche market. Now lurk for a few days and learn more how the forum is run and how the admins/moderators operate. Now when you if a post that is related to your keyword or email list purpose then you can make a comment. If you have more free information on your website, you may or may not be able to make a weblink to it, depending on policy

(4) Signature Lines

If the forum forbids direct weblinks, then you should modify your forum account to include a weblink to your list squeeze page or your home page at the least. Also add a weblink your email accounts, all pointing back to your squeeze page.

(5) Write Articles

Most article directories will take how-to pieces as low as 400 words. So trot out your thinking cap and write down a 5-7 helpful tips, warning signs, “best ways to”, etc. Complete with a paragraph or two per each tip, warning sign. Post in directories like EzineArticles, ISnare or IdeaMarketers, etc. In your resource box include a weblink to your email squeeze page.

(6) Create Videos

It’s fairly simple to create some decent looking videos using free presentation, audio recording and screen capture software. By using OpenOffice (Impress is PowerPoint knockoff), CamStudio (a Free Screen Recording Software app) and Audacity (a Free Audio Editor and Recorder program) along with just a little bit of skill, you can produce a video that you can upload to YouTube. Always include your weblink in the starting and ending credits!

(7) Create Podcasts

Use Audacity (a Free Audio Editor and Recorder program) and cheap microphone (from the electronics store) to record 5-10 minute mini “talk radio shows”. You can include background music or flashy sounds effects, but you must always include good information and mention at least 2 times the URL or web address of your squeeze page.

Some of these free list building techniques, granted may take some time to learn or implement but you can easily over time increase your subscriber base using these free list building tips.

There are so many factors to consider when starting your online business. So many people jump in without thinking things through. Here are some tips on what you should and should not do.

First there is no get rich quick scheme. No matter what you read or hear, acquiring wealth takes hard work. We see many advertisements to purchase this or that, promising that within a certain amount of time you will be making thousands of dollars. Of course the fine print tells you that they make no warranties. Remember what you were told growing up that the best things in life don’t come easy.

Second you need to pick a good niche. Focus on one area. Do your homework. Find something you are interested in and know something about. Then focus on it. Don’t wobble around!

Thirdly you need to find the right products. Make sure there is a demand for it. Check the search engines for your niche and target in on the products specifically. Also you need to check forums, marketplaces, blogs, and social marketing places.

Fourthly you need to be aware of prices. Know the prices of products. Always research what the competition is selling regarding the same or similar products. See if you can beat their price, without hurting your bottom line. Or can you add something to your product? There are alternatives such as reports or bundling it with another product.

Fifthly you need to design a great website. Some people think that you need a flashy site. This is not necessary and can distract your customers. It is not that difficult to design a website yourself with some basic knowledge. Sit down and think about how you want you site to look. Work on your wording and pictures that you will add. See my site for great products to do this.

Sixth is to build relationships. This is one of the most important things to do. They are the cornerstone of your business. Take the time to nurture your relationship. Show them what you know and have to offer. Don’t try to hard sell them!

Seventh is what too many people do too soon and that is to call it quits. Seeing a profit in this business takes time. It does not happen overnight, this process take persistence. The average internet business takes six to twelve months to see a profit.

With technology providing such a key form of communication, it makes perfect sense for large businesses to attract their customers through online marketing. Search engine marketing has allowed for an even higher success rate with targeted audiences. The key to building customer loyalty is to treat these online customers as individuals.

Offline, you spend time making sure that your marketing materials bring customers into your shop front. In the internet world, you're utilising search engine marketing to target customers and bring them to your website. When a customer enters your establishment, you immediately greet them, offer assistance, and work to provide them with the highest level of service. As a business owner, this is common knowledge in gaining and keeping customers. The same idea can be applied to your website audiences. Adding a personal touch to your online marketing is easily accomplished by simply extending the customer service that you give to physical patrons in a new format to reach internet patrons. There are several areas in which this can be accomplished.

Make Your Site User Friendly: When customers have to drive, find a parking spot and browse a store, they are much more likely to stay until they find what they need. Internet users are much quicker to change online sites, if it is difficult to find key items or slow to navigate on your site, users will likely leave and move onto competitor's sites.

Reply Quickly and Personalize Responses to Inquiries - Just as you would quickly assist a customer who enters your establishment; assist your online customers with quick and thorough responses to all questions. When communicating with customers, use the information you ask for on the contact form to personalize messages and make the customer feel valued. When responding to inquiries, avoid stock messages as they send a tone that tells the customer they are not important. Set up personalised auto responders to let the customer know that the message was received and offer a turnaround time for an answer.

Display a Privacy Statement: When customers enter your business, they may not be required to give any information regarding their identity. Online customers are required to give many more details about themselves and if they're not sure how that information will be used or protected, they may go somewhere else. Display your privacy statement prominently so customers know that their information is safe.

Earn Customer Loyalty: If a customer has a negative experience with your company, they are less likely to return and the same holds true for online customers. If they feel they have not received good service, they will not likely purchase from you again.

Online customers can be even more valuable than offline customers and should be treated as such. Ninety percent of online users research their products and services online. Providing top notch customer service and exceeding their expectations will almost guarantee their return. Comments regarding experiences with online businesses spread quickly on the internet. Do all that you can to ensure positive comments are being spread by all who do business with your site.

When you want to make money with AdSense, even if you are a newbie at the program, you will be surprised and excited to learn about the adsense secret that can be used to make money on the internet using AdSense. Google instituted the ad revenue sharing program in 2003 and many web site owners have taken advantage of the simplicity of the program in order to generate passive income for their web sites. A simple bit of code is placed on the web site that generates links to other sites where a product or service is marketed. When the link is clicked, the web site owner receives a payment from the advertiser.

Follow the rules

To make money with AdSense, you must be certain that you read and understand the policies and rules as set up by Google and described in the agreement that you signed when you registered your AdSense account. The policies limit the type of sites where you can place AdSense ads, for instance. You must focus your web site on the keyword rich content, rather than on the ads themselves. That is what Google wants to see in the AdSense web sites. It is up to the web site owner to apply the rules correctly.

How it Works

Once you have set up your Google AdSense account, you can add the code to any blog, web site or forum that you run. The account is tied to the web site owner so that you don't need to reapply when you open another site. Just be certain that each of your sites complies with the AdSense policies. To make money with AdSense, you should concentrate on improving the content of your own web site so that more people are drawn to your site and appreciate the information and content that they find there.

Customize the Ads

Your next step to make money with AdSense is to decide on the style and format of the ads that are placed. Many marketing studies show that the size, placement, color and general theme of the ads can make a great deal of difference when you are preparing your ads. Use any or all of the recommendations that can be found in the quality tutorials that are available on the subject of AdSense. You can use Google Adsense ads in conjunction with affiliate ads to add relevant content and a more organic feel to your web pages.

AdSense with Blogs

You can make money with AdSense very effectively by using blogs. Since people expect to find a wide variety of relevant information about the product niche when they go to a blog, they also are more likely to click on one or more of the AdSense ads found on the blogs. There is even software to help web site owners place AdSense ads directly into their blogs. Because the AdSense ads are fully customizable they are more likely to blend with the theme and appearance of the web site or blog.

Make the most out of your SPACE

If you look around and observe the many websites and blogs on the net nowadays there aren’t that many that don’t use advertisements of some kind. Using this resource in the right way can mean the difference between a healthy return and a mediocre one.

Positioning is vital; there are all kinds of advice on this subject and a good point of reference is to place your ad space sensibly and see it through your visitors’ eyes.

Optimisation Tips; Certain locations tend to be more successful than others, so experiment with different areas of your website or blog. All things being equal, ads located above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold. Ads placed near rich content and navigational links usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page. If your visitor is reading an article then at the end of the article they are always looking for some other link “What can I do next?" Precisely-targeted ads can answer that question for them.

For Bloggers

Blend ads into your blog; think about that for a moment! So that your readers will see and click on your ads, blend your ad units into the background of your blog. Choose a colour that stands out for the ad title, this will draw the eye to your ads; then make sure that the background and borders of your ads are the same colour as the background of the area where the ad is placed. Many blogging templates especially WordPress have customised ad blocks typically 125*125 in size which are very effective.

Show more options with search and referrals for affiliate programs

Make it easier for your visitor to find more options and to expand their reach with specialised search query boxes. You can place a custom coded iframe within your website that will greatly increase your visitors search experience; also there are advertisers that will provide some excellent search query applications.

Selling advertising spaces!

If you have a mailing list that exceeds 1,000 subscribers and beyond, you can start selling advertising space for say, $15.00 per ad. The more subscribers you have the higher your return, make sure you shop around, there are plenty of choices available.

If you reach the heady heights in traffic you can expect to get anywhere from between $500 to $1500 per month for each 125*125 ad space, so if you have a typical six block ad placement; well you do the math!

This list of 6 innovative traffic strategies are advanced yet simple approaches which most successful internet marketer may be adopted one way or another for their websites, blogs, newsletters etc.

These strategies are proven effective in generating traffic, backlinks and getting buy-in for newsletter subscriptions. They raise the bar in generating greater intimacy between you the writer and your readers for bonding long term relationship.

Subscribe to My RSS, If You Want My Ebook for Free.

Create a free ebook to give away. But lead your readers step by step to subscribe to your RSS. Educate your readers with a guide to RSS if they are not familiar.

By the same token, use the same free ebook hook but let them register via your auto responder with their email addresses. There you have it, you have started generating more subscribed readers already.

Invite Expert Writers in Your Niche Market and Garner A Triple Win Proposition.

If you are in the In-circle with related and reputed niche experts of your online niche market segments, grab the opportunity to invite them as expert guest writers on your website on a regular basis, may be, weekly or fortnightly.

This could turn out to be a Triple Win situation for all parties, you, your guest writers and most importantly your readers. You get the added traffic that the expert writer is expected to pull in for you, the guest writers get his or her niche branding platform at no cost at all, and your readers benefit from more expert information!

Interview Experts, Load It Up and Create A Following With Anticipation.

Whenever you conduct a niche related interview with an industry or niche expert, always request permission that enables you to capture a video and upload into your website. Most experts being interviewed will not mind as this could generate good exposure and enhance his branding.

A trick is to roll out a long interview in a series of segments, timed to be released at specific timings on a regular basis. This creates excitement, anticipation and more than often tends to create a readership following over time.

Transcribe Your Interviews and Enhance Your Newsletter Subscriptions.

An alternative to the video interviews is to create a transcription version of the interview for those who prefer to read.

Segment them into a series of regular posts. Or create anticipation by advertisng the transcription postings on your website, and announcing distribution of the transcribed version via your weekly newsletter, letting it spread by word of mouth, thereby increasing subscription to your newsletter.

Publish Your Online Surveys Reports Free and Establish Your Authority.

You have recently completed an online survey report on your niche market segments and even added a commentary on the future trends of your niche market segments.

Generate excitement within your niche circle, be generous and give it away free by getting them to subscribe to your newsletter. By giving the report away free, you actually generate more long term readers and garner niche supporters. But more importantly, you have successfully positioned and branded yourself as the niche expert with the final say on future trends in your own niche segment.

You are The Unique Content. Pull in the Traffic with Your Niche Branding.

If You speak of the very unique niche market segment, are the subject matter or content expert and Only You can deliver that very Original and Unique Content, then you have the very strong branding pre-requisite that gives the pull. Examples are offline authority figures with some public interest announcing that he is starting a blog, the very fact of which will drive traffic.

In Conclusion

Note that the above are probably what a lot of internet marketers deem as White Hat tactics, requiring a fair amount of hard work and time to achieve. But once the traffic is generated, they are with you for the long term, with the assumption that you continuously and ethically bond with them.

As I am sure you already know blogging is huge right now. If you don’t know what blogging is then you have obviously not spent a lot of time online in the past few years. Blogging is one of the most popular ways of sharing information online and building websites for just about any topic. Where people used to build simple websites, they are now starting blogs. They are also a great way to start an online home business. People have blogs for pretty much every subject under the sun. There are blogs about entertainment, science, politics, parenting, sports, animals, and lots of blogs about how to make money online!

One of the big reasons for starting blogs is their ease of use and the fact that they can be a great way to make money online if you are willing to devote the time and energy required to keep the blog going. There is more to blogging than simply putting up some basic information or a picture and then throwing up some Adsense code around it.

There are plenty of ways you can use blogging to make money online and here are some of the most popular:

Paid Advertising

There are plenty of advertising programs on the internet that are blog-friendly and depending on the popularity of your blog, you can generate anywhere from a few dollars every month to a few thousand dollars a day! Adsense is a very popular way to make money from putting advertising on a blog.

However, if Adsense isn’t your thing there are plenty of alternatives. There are quite a few good revenue share advertising programs that will sell ads for you and give a percentage of the profits. You could also look into selling advertising independently. If you have some marketing and networking experience and know how to edit your templates then selling advertising yourself is a great way to make money online and you get to keep 100% of the profits!

Affiliate Marketing

A blog is a great way to showcase affiliate links, particularly if your blog is about a specific niche. In fact, if you are a “niche blogger” affiliate links can generate more income for you than you can make with advertising. There are tons of affiliate programs out there. Just be careful not to overload your blog with affiliate links. A blog with more affiliate links than useful and original content is a total turn off and will not make you nearly as much money!

Media

For most bloggers this will never happened but there are some bloggers who make such a big name for themselves that they become a famous in the media. It takes a long time to get to this point (if you can ever do it at all), but it’s possible. For example; look at someone like Perez Hilton. He has managed to make a name for himself outside of the blogosphere and is now rich and famous due to his blogging efforts. In order to achieve this though you have to be very patient, very dedicated to your blog and stand out from every other blogger competing with you.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways that you can use blogging to build an online income or even propel yourself to celebrity status. Above I have listed just a few ways that you could use blogging make money online. This is not an all-inclusive list by any means, there are many more ways to make money with a blog so get out there and start blogging your little heart out!.

Why Blog?

Posted In: . By dens

Author: Elizabeth Albekeit

First off if you’re not exactly sure what a Blog is either because you have been avoiding the craze or are just not a computer junkie a Blog is the amalgamation of two words web and log a web log or Blog for short. Essentially it is an online journal of sorts, you will find a Blog on nearly every subject you can think of. But why is it relevant to your website?

People love Blog and search engines love them too. Why do SE’s (search engines) love them you ask? It’s simple the Blog is frequently updated so their content is fresh on a regular basis. Sites with Blog rank higher then ones without. A Blog is an indication to the SE that the site will be updated frequently. This fresh content in the Blog will attract the search engine’s spiders to index it more frequently. Thus, they rank the website higher due to the regular updates.

What is the draw to the public about Blog? People love stories and Blog are stories about their favourite subjects. Blog gives people a different perspective your personal perspective on the topic. Another reason people love Blogs are that they are interactive (usually). Often along with a Blog is an area where its visitors can leave a comment on the content of the particular post that they are reading.

The added bonus to you as the writer is that you get insight on what your visitors are interested in learning more about. Posts that receive a lot of interest from your guests can be an indication of what kinds of products and services your customers are in need of. You can then add them to your sales items if there is something you can get for them or create the products they are really wanting. Another thing is you can write more articles on their interest providing your readers with more content that they desire. Since your Blog can have an RSS feed, they will know when you have added new content and in that content you can direct them to the products and information they are looking for.

Pay attention to your Blog, update it frequently and visit other Blog sites with the same or similar theme to see what people are commenting on in those postings. This research on other web logs will help you improve your site and better targets your audience.

The one thing that really stands out to me about web logs above other types of content is that they are personal perspectives of their writers. You can learn a lot about a web site’s owner by reading what they post. You can develop a better relationship with your readers because the content is much more personal and created out of your head rather then on straight research. This personal perspective is what sells the Blog people are looking for advice and things they can relate too.

Visit some Blog look to see if they interest you. Leave a comment and be nice when you do it reflects on you if you are negative. Then get out there and share your own personal perspective on your favourite topics.

Despite the popularity of RSS technology, only about 20% of internet users actually use it. In fact, many internet users don't even know what it is or how to use it. But there are three reasons why we should expect that to change very soon. Just as many devoted "snail mail" users eventually came around to the idea of using email, many email users will probably become avid RSS users.

Three Reasons Why RSS is The Way to Go!

1. RSS Allows the Use of Embedded Audio and Video:

Let's say that you're an internet marketer who wants to send an email to established clients. You envision this email containing a YouTube-like preview that the client can click on to see your expertly-crafted video. But guess what? You can't do that with email. The best you can hope for is to include a preview image that opens up a web browser to play the video when the client clicks on it.

You may wonder why that's so bad, but just think of how much easier it would be to view the video right there in the email without being bounced around. And then remember that RSS easily and conveniently allows for embedded video and audio.

2. RSS Guarantees 100% Deliverability

If you're an internet marketer, listen up. Even if you legitimately obtain the email address of a potential client or an established client, there is only a 60% chance that they will receive an email that you send to them. That means that if you have a list of 100 emails that you've worked hard to obtain, 40 of those customers won't ever get the email. What a waste!

But RSS is different. If someone has subscribed to your RSS feed, you are guaranteed that they will receive every single message.

And the advantages aren't limited to internet marketers! Customers also win with RSS. No more whitelisting senders, and no more signing up for email lists only to find a spam box filled with old email. Once users realize how convenient and efficient RSS really is, RSS will grow by leaps and bounds.

3. RSS Means NO SPAM!

Industry analysts and internet marketers are acutely aware of the possibility that email may not be free forever, particularly for large corporations that send out significant numbers of emails. Why? The answer is spam. It's time-consuming to delete, it often contains inappropriate messages, and large corporations are often burned by it. Before you dismiss the idea that email may no longer be free, know that some email providers are already researching ways to make email like cell phones that impose a sending quota.

And won't RSS be popular then for marketers and consumer alike!

If you are one of the 80% who uses RSS feed regularly, you may be stuck for awhile checking both email and your feed reader because a few key things need to happen before RSS completely eclipses email. First, users need to be able to send messages to select RSS subscribers instead of everyone who subscribes to the RSS feed. Second, users will need to have the ability to share some identifying information with the publisher so that the publisher can send content that matches the needs of the user and can utilize RSS similarly to email.

So What Will This Look Like?

Quite honestly, it will probably look a lot like email, except that instead of publishing your message to a blog, you'll actually publish it to a private spot on the internet and to your client's RSS reader. When your client checks his feed reader, he'll see that you've posted a message to him and reads the message online or in the private space where you've published the message.

Sounds easy, right? Although RSS technology has a way to go before this is a reality, it never hurts to prepare for the possibility. If it all sounds overwhelming, consider the possibility of consulting with an SEO expert to talk about how your company can prepare for the widespread use of RSS as an alternative to email.

How long should your blog post be?

Ever since I started blogging a few years ago, that is one of the questions new bloggers have asked. The blog Guru's will tell you that blog post need to be short. The theory is that if you make longer post, the reader will get bored and leave your site.

I naturally write long articles so it was hard for me to follow the 250 to 500 word blog post unspoken rule.

If you're only interested in attracting Social traffic, stick to making those short, concise post. Most Social readers have shorter attention spans than a 3 year old, especially if they come from Digg.

If on the other hand, you want your post to rank high in Google SERPS and bring in loads of targeted organic search traffic, you're more likely to do it with longer keyword optimized post than shorter ones.

You'll also naturally have more long tail keywords in your long blog post. Long tail keywords bring in more targeted organic traffic to your site.

If you run a content rich site with Adsense, you can increase your CTR with longer post and articles. Why? Because you'll stand a better chance of the reader losing interest and clicking on an Adsense ad. Yeah, I know, it's a pretty underhanded Adsense trick hunh? But it works.

You should also be aware that you'll probably lose a few RSS subscribers who do not like long post, but you'll also gain a few more who feel long post are more informative and detailed. They'll see you as a detailed authority on the subject.

If you're worried about losing your RSS subscribers to long post, here are a few tips that will help you keep them interested and to optimize your long post.

Use the H3 tag to break up your long post into sections. Properly constructed H3 headings also add SEO benefits to your long post.

Use bullets and numbers to break up list or for making points.

Use blockquotes when quoting others or for highlighting a resource.

Use Bold, Italics and Colored Text to get your point across and to break up your long post.

Not all of your long post have to be a War and Peace novels. Just the really important post you want to expand on and the ones you want top rankings for.

Don't worry about mixing long and short blog post. I've done it on my blog for nearly 2 years now and I reaping the benefits of knowing that longer blog post equal higher rankings.

If you're a website owner and are not following these five tactics for correctly linking your website together then you're losing Google traffic as you read this. Internal linking is the links on your website that point to other pages within your same website. External linking is when you link to another website.

There are things you can do when developing or re-working your internal linking structure. If you carry out the following tactics, you're going to achieve two things. First, you'll make your website better from a user's perspective. Second, you'll rank better in Google. And it's no coincidence that Google rewards you for doing things that make the website user's experience easier and better. In fact, the most important thing I can recommend is that you create, design and link your website together is a way that benefits the visitor first. Your visitors are most important, not Google rankings.

And remember, links to your site (whether from other sites or from pages within your own site) help your rankings.

1) Add links in your navigation or footer as text links to all your important pages and main sections.
This is a very easy and an extremely effective tactic that not all sites do, and even less do for maximum results. This is the first thing I look for when reviewing a website for a client. Unfortunately, sometimes artsy Web designers add cool buttons, which are images, to all the main sections of the site, but neglect to include text links as well. Or a programmer decides to make the website's navigation a dynamic drop down menu in DHTML or JavaScript but forget to include text links to the same pages represented in the menus. Search engines cannot follow image links or links created in JavaScript, they can only follow simple text links, so be sure you add them to your site as well.

So if you want search engines to visit and index (or record) ALL your website's pages, be sure there are text links pointing to all the main sections of your site and to all your important pages.

2) Use of the rel="nofollow" HTML tag.
This is fairly simple. Google created this tag which tells them NOT to count the link in their search engine ranking algorithm when used on a link. There's debate that maybe Google does count them a little, or will some day in the future. But for now, this tag does greatly decrease a link's value in Google's eyes. Therefore, consider using this tag on some of your links within your site. For example, let's say you have a homepage and then create two inner pages, and that's the extent of the site. Let's further say that you add a link to both pages on your homepage.

If your homepage has some external links pointing to it, then it has some value in regards to Google's ranking system. When you link to each of your two new pages within your site from your homepage, each page gets only 50% of the value the homepage has. (This is all measured in Page Rank). Let's then say that your first inner page is the one you want to rank well in the Google, but you don't care if your second inner page even gets found by Google or ranked. You could add the nofollow tag to the second link on your homepage, thereby giving the first inner page 100% of the homepage's value.

Think of the implications. Imagine if you had a website with hundreds or thousands of pages and used the nofollow tag throughout. To understand how to implement this tag is, do a search in Google such as "how to add a nofollow tag to link".

Finally, if you have pages such as a privacy page, terms page, checkout pages or contact pages that you don't care if they rank well in Google, be sure to use the nofollow tag when creating internal links to these pages.

3) Use descriptive & different phrases to point to the same inner page
The words that are in the text of a link (also known as the anchor text) affect your search engine rankings. For example, the anchor text in the two links above is "Your Website". If enough of these links that were on quality and valuable sites, including your own website's inner pages, pointed to the same page, it would eventually rank well in Google when someone searches for the phrase "your website".

Therefore, be sure to make the anchor text in all your internal links the phrases you want the pages to be found for in Google.

Going back to the number 1 tactic above, you would be far better off making the anchor text in all your footer links as descriptive as possible. If you want to rank well in Google for "affordable Red widgets" then make the anchor text "affordable Red widgets".

Finally, vary your anchor text when pointing to the same page within your website. For instance, on some of your pages you could link to your Red Widgets page with the anchor text of "Red widgets", then on other pages link to it using "affordable Red widgets" and then maybe use "widgets that are Red". This allows you to get the page ranked for multiple terms and helps the user since you're being descriptive and making your anchor text better match the content of the page it's on.

4) Make links in your content
If you have text on your site, make some of the words within the text links that point to other pages within your website. For instance, if you have an article about Red widgets, or a page that describes how great your Red widgets are, make the first or second occurrence of the phrase "Red widgets" in the text a link that points to your Red Widgets page.

5) Create breadcrumbs at the top of every page
This looks something like this: Home - Products - Red Widgets
Each of words between the hyphens (which are also often greater-than signs) above should be links to their corresponding pages within the site. This helps your website visitors know where they are in relation to the rest of the site. It helps orientate site visitors. Anything you can do that helps your visitors' experience is something you ought to consider doing. This also helps search engines spider your website more easily as well. Finally, making breadcrumbs creates more internal links to your pages, thus helping your rankings as well.

By following these top five internal linking tactics, you'll be far ahead of the competition, you'll rank better in Google and other search engines and you'll be making your website visitors' lives easier.

Building a list of members or newsletter subscribers is one of the most important things any webmaster should do.

One of the best ways to get free subscribers to your list is to get other publishers and websites to mention you, your site and your products constantly. This will then build a relationship with their own subscribers and when they join your newsletter they will already know a lot about you and be looking forward to receiving your emails.

Because your site or the product you are promoting has been recommended by someone else that has already provided them with information they want the trust will already be in place.

So how do you get other publishers to mention you in their newsletters? Do something news worthy! Hold a contest, claim to know something no one else does, tell publishers a little tip that you learn and that they are free to tell their subscribers as well.

Building a relationship with other publishers is one of the best ways to get a mention or referral especially if you are offering them something that will be beneficial to them and their subscribers.

Another great way to get publishers to mention you is to send them articles, good articles or even an e-book full of articles. Tell the publisher they can send your articles to all their subscribers for free and include an author box that leads to your sign up page.

Build relationships with these publishers and become their friends!

It is also a good idea to tell people who are already subscribed to your newsletter that they can pass the newsletter or e-book on to friends and also use parts or all of your newsletter in articles that they can then submit to various article marketing sites

As long as you are mentioned in the author box you will of course get credit and a link back to your site. This is sort of like article writing, just with your newsletter issue in replace of your article.

If you are providing good solid information in your newsletter or e-book, what ever the topic, you will want to target different people. Offering your information as something that can be passed onto others for free is a great way to get other website owners and marketers to mention you constantly.

It is also important to remember one of the biggest problems I see when people write articles or e-books is that they write about subjects no one in their market is interested in. They just write about whatever they think people want to know about without doing any of the research, which is a huge no no.

Another problem is, publishers who have a market well defined don't then write the content in their newsletters that interests their readers. There is no use having an article on coin collecting and running a business about stamp collecting.

This is easily overcome. Just send out an email asking your readers what they want to read. Also sign up for other newsletters in your market and see what they are writing about.

Building a valuable list of subscribers is something every webmaster wants to achieve. This article will give you some excellent ideas on how to build your list using surprisingly easy methods.

1 - Add more subscriber boxes to your website. Sounds simple enough, but few people actually do it. If you have a 100 page website, you should have 100 newsletter subscribe boxes on your website.

You can integrate a subscribe box just about anywhere in a website. You could add one just before an article starts, in the middle of an article or even at the end of the article.

As long as you have good content on your website, you won't have a problem getting people to subscribe to your newsletter.

- Offer an outstanding bonus or gift. I have had a problem in the past with offering freebies to get people to subscribe to your newsletter, but I also know it can work well, if done properly.

Why do I have a problem with it? Well I really want subscribers to be signing up for my newsletter because they want my newsletter not because they want the freebie I am offering.

The best way to offer a freebie is to create one yourself and not something you have reprint rights to with 500 other people. You want it to be unique, and you want it to be something that plugs your newsletter heavily.

Do you know what makes a good bonus? Back issues of your newsletter!

- Use a sales letter to get subscribers, This is something I've seen a lot of lately. People using direct sales letters to get new subscribers for their newsletter. They are actually creating a sales letter like they would for a product they are selling, and at the end of it, instead of an order button, they have a subscribe here button.

You wouldn't even know by reading the sales letter that it is not for a product until the very end.

This gives people the WOW factor. You make your newsletter sound so valuable that when they find out it's free, they go "WOW, I can't believe they are giving all this information away for free".

This is pure marketing at it's best, and it's exciting. Marketing is meant to be exciting, just like life.

- Use a well paid for and well known autoresponder, I can't stress this enough. Do not use free Autoresponders or mailing lists! These services can go down at anytime and are not professional looking at all.

Plus they also get used for spamming and are abused badly.

Once your list has begun to grow do not forget to keep sending those subscribers valuable information that will be of use to them. Always let them know that they are welcome to pass the information onto others, or better still get their friends to subscribe also.

Getting more traffic and building a mailing list are two of the big keys to making money on the Internet. If you have a website or blog and are not using RSS feeds correctly then you are probably missing out on valuable opportunities to increase traffic.

RSS is the acronym for Really Simple Syndication and it is basically a format that is used all over the internet for syndication of news and other related sites, which can include all major news sites and personal web logs.

Many people will use RSS feed to help them increase their traffic for their home business.

There are five key ways to use RSS feed as a successful business tool for you.

One: You want to use RSS feed to get your domain blog-rolled but you first have to have the RSS in place. You need to learn how if you do not know how to put it in place.

You can do this by attaching links from other blogs and websites to your blog and website. This will help to increase your link popularity.

Two: Submit your RSS feed to the RSS directories. You will be able to drive a lot of traffic to your link this way and it will help to increase your link popularity with the search engines.

Three: Be sure and keep your RSS feeds up to date. You have to do this if you want to be indexed by search engines on a more frequent basis.

Four: Use RSS press release. This has many advantages and one of them being that you won't need to use email marketing as much because you will be able to spread the news to the important places as it comes in.

Five: Use RSS for real time advertising. For example, if your customer wants a product that is not currently available, when it becomes available you can use RSS to notify them.

This will help your customer service be better and will help increase customer loyalty also. Part of the success to making more money online is taking care of people when you get the chance.

Six: Many internet marketers still do not understand the importance of branding themselves. You do that several ways, but being able to establish your own credibility is a big key.

You can keep your name in front of your subscribers and build your credibility using RSS feeds. Over time you become a trusted source for quality information if you do it correctly.

Here are a couple of good websites for more information on RSS feeds:

This should give you some ideas on how to use a RSS feed to increase traffic. Traffic is the name of the game and you need it coming from as many different sources as possible if you are trying to make more money online today!

Namely, embedded video, 100% deliverability and spam-free information management.

But, before any of us permanently trades in our email account for an RSS Reader, a few things need to happen.

Until then, we will be doing double-duty... checking both our Inbox and our latest feeds.

WHAT RSS NEEDS BEFORE IT KILLS EMAIL

1. RSS Content Clients (like Outlook for RSS) As it stands, messages which are sent via RSS are usually composed inside some sort of blog or other similar content management system and published to the world. All the folks who have requested the RSS "feed" then receive that message into the RSS reader they check whenever it is convenient for them. Generally speaking, the entire group of subscribers gets every message.

Now, imagine a software application that works like an email client such as Outlook that allows you to create a message, format it, add video and audio and then send it to just one (or a selected group) of subscribers via RSS... All without having to publish that content to the world.

This would be the silver bullet solution to all the woes of email.

2. RSS to One or Selected Groups One of the current appeals of RSS at present is the fact that one can subscribe to an RSS feed anonymously. They are ensured of receiving only messages from that person or website (which is hopefully run by a person) and nothing else. Neither the website owner or the RSS service knows anything about the subscriber. This is a good thing and something that will continue to make RSS valuable.

However, at some point, a more personal RSS option should appear which allows the subscriber a choice. In the future, when someone chooses to subscribe to an RSS feed, they will have the option of sharing personal information with the publisher, perhaps just their name and a few selected interests.

They will be glad to do this for two reasons.

1. It will allow the publisher to send only content that matches their desired interests. (this is actually already possible but very few take advantage of it)

2. It will allow for private RSS communication between individuals and groups with all 3 benefits listed above - embedded media, 100% deliverability, spam-free.

WHAT KILLER-RSS WILL LOOK LIKE

In this new more advanced world, you will have our own personal RSS address. Not connected to a business or blog content, just to you personally. Yes, you may be thinking... "just like my email address".

When someone wants to hear from you, they will go to some fancy Web 2.0 service and subscribe to your personal RSS feed. They will sign-up for their own personal RSS feed and then subscribe to yours, providing you with their name (if they are a friend) and perhaps their interests if they are a business contact.

When you want to send them, and only them a message, you'll open up the fancy wysiwyg editor provided by the cool Web 2.0 service mentioned above, create a message and publish it.

Sounds like email right? Exactly...

The difference is, you publish the message not to your public blog but to a private space on the net and to your friend's RSS reader.

So, your friend checks their RSS reader, sees your name on their list of subscriptions, notices that you have published a message to them (and maybe a few other friends) and either reads the message in their reader or in the private space online.

So, as this shift occurs, what we are calling Killer-RSS will be viewed as an upgrade to typical email services with the added benefits mentioned above.

What do you think, will RSS be the email killer. If not, how do you see the RSS - email relationship working out? Visit Web2Center.com to join the dialogue.

Indeed, even frequent internet users have no idea what that little orange RSS square represents and certainly don't realize that there is a big shift brewing in the bowels of online publishing and marketing.

But, that may change more quickly than we all used to think for 3 very potent reasons.

There are advantages to RSS that will compel most, if not all, internet users and content consumers to "learn" to use an RSS reader and start managing RSS subscriptions.

In the same way email eclipsed snail mail for content delivery, RSS will eclipse email as the consumer's choice for opt-in messaging.

If you are an email marketer, the time for you to get engaged to RSS has come, because, whether you like it or not, the wedding bells will be ringing soon.

Here's why...

RSS = EMBEDDED VIDEO(and audio)

I recently was asked to help a small business embed video into emails they wanted to send to established clients.

Their vision was clear:

1. Create a quick video email with a webcam, stick it right into their corporate Outlook email with a Youtube style preview.

2. The customer gets the email, clicks the Youtube-looking video preview and the video start playing.

3. No landing page, they wanted everthing to happen right there inside the email client, whether it was Outlook, AOL, Gmail, Yahoo or otherwise.

Simple right? Nope...

This is simply not possible with email.

Many brilliant companies have tried various tactics to embed video into email in a way that doesn't consistently get blocked or stripped by the various email providers.

With email, the best that can be done is mimic the embedded video look by putting a video preview image in the email which opens up the web browser and plays the video there when clicked.

Ironically, even this comes at a significant cost because of the technical knowledge needed to make it happen.

So why is this a less than perfect solution?

Primarily because none of us like to be bounced around, we want to view video instantly, seamlessly.

After all, we have been trained to expect this level of immediacy by seeing it everyday on Google's "universal search" and countless blogs.

The good news is, embedded video and audio are part and parcel (fundamental elements) of RSS.

Adding video (and audio) that can be instantly viewed by someone receiving an RSS feed is as simple as adding text.

Readers get what they have come to expect and corporations, as well as small businesses, can provide dynamic, highly personal content without paying a coder or webmaster thousands of bucks.

RSS = 100% DELIVERABILITY

I was shocked to see the stats on email deliverability rates for the typical business. The fact is, even if you have come by a person's email honestly (that is - you did not buy a bootleg list of emails from some guy in a dark virtual alley) the likelihood of them actually receiving that message from you is 60% or less.

So, let's say you have a list of 1000 customer emails - which you have worked hard and paid real money to acquire. When you send a message, 400 of them (on average) don't get it. It either automatically lands in their Spam Folder or gets deleted even before it reaches them.

Even companies like Aweber who make a living sending emails for other people and have intimate agreements with email providers like Gmail, AOL and Yahoo, only get a 90% deliverabilty rate - on a good day (they claim %99.4 but I use Aweber and when I factor in the whole opt-in and email management process, at least 10% of my emails are undelivered).

RSS is quite different. If someone has opted-in to your RSS "feed", they will get 100% of your messages. No doubt about it.

This is obviously good for the company but how is this also an advantage for the customer?

Well, have you ever had the frustration of opting-in to something that you were interested in only to find (after searching for a few minutes) that it was buried in your spam box.

Have you ever had to "whitelist" an email address so that each email that was sent wasn't immediately deleted?

Doing this takes TIME... the most expensive commodity any one of us owns.

Once consumers realize there is a simpler way to get 100% of what they want, 100% of the time, and 0% of what they don't want, RSS will start to look like a (pardon the old expression) "no brainer".

RSS = SPAM-FREE

This may be the "tipping point" that triggers the general masses toward RSS.

Yes, spam is annoying... it takes time to delete... it contains inappropriate messages which make parents steaming mad... and it is the constant burden of corporations and email providers.

Especially due to the last reason, email will not be free forever. You may not have to pay if you send just a few emails to your friends and family each month but if your sending out a significant number of messages... you will pay.

This will be the email manager's final attempt at curbing the clever spammer.

In fact, email providers are already debating and tweaking a platform similar to cell phone companies where you will have a sending quota.

This will only push spamming into a "higher" art form and challenge the suprisingly intelligent geeks behind this modern phenomenon to new technical heights.

All of this will only serve to highlight the value of RSS even more and compel the average folks into opening up a Google Reader account or using the one they goofed around with more often.

However, before RSS eliminates email as we know it, a few things have to happen...

We will cover this in Part 2 of "Why RSS May Be The Email Killer".

RSS Aggregators To Your Advantage

Posted In: . By dens

Author: Daniel Millions

One of the most popular features of Internet portals, websites, pages and even emails is a frame that features an organized list of news headlines and periodic updates from other web sources. Really Simple Syndication, formerly Rich Site Summary or simply, RSS makes this possible.

Most users visit a lot of websites whose content continually change, such as news sites, community organization or professional association information pages, medical websites, product support pages, and blogs. As Internet surfing became an intrinsic part of business and leisure, it became important to get rid of the very tedious task of repeatedly returning to each website to see updated content.

RSS easily distributes information from different websites to a wider number of Internet users. RSS aggregators are programs that use RSS to source these updates, and then organize those lists of headlines, content and notices for easy reading. It allows computers to automatically retrieve and read the content that users want, then track changes and personalize lists of headlines that interests them.

The specially made computer programs called RSS aggregators were created to automatically find and retrieve the RSS feeds of pre-selected internet sites on behalf of the user and organize the results accordingly. (RSS feeds and aggregators are also sometimes referred to as "RSS Channels" and "RSS Readers".)

The RSS aggregator is like a web browser for RSS content. HTML presents information directly to users, and RSS automatically lets computers communicate with one another. While users use browsers to surf the web then load and view each page of interest, RSS aggregators keeps track of changes to many websites. The titles or descriptions are links themselves and can be used to load the web page the user wants.

RSS starts with an original Web site that has content made available by the administrator. The website creates an RSS document and registers this content with an RSS publisher that will allow other websites to syndicate the documents. The Web site also produces an RSS feed, or channel, which is available together with all other resources or documents on the particular Web server. The website will register the feed as an RSS document, with a listed directory of appropriate RSS publishers.

An RSS feed is composed of website content listed from newest to oldest. Each item usually consists of a simple title describing the item along with a more complete description and a link to a web page with the actual content being described. In some instances, the short description or title line is the all the updated information that a user wants to read (for example, final games scores in sports, weblogs post, or stock updates). Therefore, it is not even necessary to have a web page associated with the content or update items listed -- sometimes all the needed information that users need would be in the titles and short summaries themselves.

The RSS content is located in a single file on a webpage in a manner not very different from typical web pages. The difference is that the information is written in the XML computer code for use by an RSS aggregator and not by a web user like a normal HTML page.

There are 2 main parts that are involved in RSS syndication, namely: the source end and the client end.

The client end of RSS publishing makes up part of the system that gathers and uses the RSS feed. For example, Mozilla FireFox browser is typically at the client end of the RSS transaction. A users desktop RSS aggregator program also belongs to the client end.

Once the URL of an RSS feed is known, a user can give that address to an RSS aggregator program and have the aggregator monitor the RSS feed for changes. Numerous RSS aggregators are already preconfigured with a ready list of RSS feed URLs for popular news or information websites that a user can simply choose from.

There are many RSS aggregators that can be used by all Internet users. Some can be accessed through the Internet, some are already incorporated into email applications, and others run as a standalone program inside the personal computer.

RSS feeds have evolved into many uses. Some uses gaining popularity are:

For online store or retail establishments notification of new product arrivals. For organization or association newsletters title listings and notification of new issues, including email newsletters. Weather Updates and other alerts of changing geographic conditions
Database management. Notification of new items added, or new registered members to a club or interest group.

The uses of feeds will continue to grow, because RSS aggregators make access to any information that individual users like more convenient and fun.

Create Professional RSS Feeds

Posted In: . By dens

Author: Sharon Housley

More and more companies are using RSS as a means to communicate, so having an RSS feed that is professional and well polished will help differentiate your company from your competition. What makes an RSS feed professional? Follow these simple steps to polish your RSS feed and take it to the next level...

1. Feed Image

Add an image to your RSS feed. The image will be displayed by many feed readers each time your feed is displayed. This will help build and reinforce your brand or image in the minds of people who read your RSS feed. Adding an image to an RSS feed is relatively easy, and adds a level of professionalism.

2. Images And Links

Add images and links within the RSS feed. The process of adding images and links to the description field of an RSS feed is really quite simple if you are using software to manage your feed, while it may be somewhat complex if you are hand-coding your feed. Incorporating images or hot links in the feed's content will allow your readers to explore further and dig deeper into your content. The added benefit, of course, are the additional web links back to your site from any sites that choose to syndicate or display your feed's contents.

3. Validate

Properly formed code is important, in order to ensure that all RSS readers can read and display your feed. But it is also very important for another reason... nothing is more embarrassing or unprofessional than an RSS feed that is broken or stops working. Use software to manage your feed creation, and validate your feed on a regular basis.

4. Easy To Subscribe

Make your RSS feed easy to subscribe to. Include the traditional RSS icon, or an indicator site-wide, so that website visitors can easily locate and subscribe to your RSS feeds. Include basic directions on how website visitors should subscribe to your RSS feed.

5. Auto Discovery

Add "auto-discovery" code to the HTML header of your website. Many RSS aggregators include an auto-discovery feature, which allows them to automatically detect when a website offers an RSS feed. So, if your website visitors are using one of those aggregators, they will instantly know that an RSS feed for your content is available from your website.

6. Favicon

Add a "favicon" to your website. Favicons (short for "favorite icons") are typically a tiny version of a company or Web site's logo, and appear in the URL bar of the user's web browser. When a user bookmarks a specific Web page that includes a favicon, that Web page loads the customized icon into the user's browser. Because the favicon is usually displayed next to the web site address, it can act like a small logo or an icon that visitors can use to remember the web site or the site address. Feed directories and RSS Search Engines will often use a favicon beside an RSS feed's listings. So be sure that you have one on your website; otherwise, you'll have nothing but a generic icon beside your feed. Webmasters can establish branding by creating a favicon for their website. Here is a free service from HTMLKit: http://www.html-kit.com/favicon

7. Subscribe To Your Own Feed

Always subscribe to your RSS feed, so you can see what your website visitors are seeing.

While it is not essential to incorporate the above elements in your RSS feed, the additions will result in a more professional and polished RSS feed that stands apart from competitors in news aggregators and RSS directories. Spending a few extra minutes here could easily draw more attention to your feed.

Google Adsense: Where to Place Ads on Your Web Pages

Deciding Where to Place Your Google Ads on Your Web Pages so That They Will Be Most Profitable.
This is one of the best parts of the whole Google Adsense experience. No one else gets to make this decision except you. It’s your page. You get to decide how many ( up to 3 ads per page), what colors and shapes you will use and on what part of the page the ad will be placed. Should you place your ads at the top or bottom? In the middle of the text? To the left or right? There are only billions and billions of websites online to serve as a pretty decent example! So why not take a look around the web?

One piece of advice I can personally give you on strategic adsense placement is to place your ads as close to eye level as possible for maximum exposure without scrolling. In other words, the easiest less confusing your ads are, the more likely they will get noticed which equals more and more clickthroughs.

While I am not the foremost expert on google adsense I am experienced in the field. I am experienced in the field of pay per click advertising and I have seen every trick in the book. All of my ebooks and literature over the years have been read by lots of people seeking success in adsense. From crooks and con men to the legitimate every day Joe. The bottome line is....If you have a simple page and you place adsense on that page hoping to at least make enough adsense clickthrough revenue to pay for your uptime you are in it for all of the wrong reasons and you are ultimately wasting your time.

The guru's who made money on utilizing google adsense advertising for content, researched and researched and dabbled in every single avenue of legitimate website marketing to illegitimate website marketing. Then when they made their millions or when they went broke they wrote ebooks about it and made more money from that. Did they reveal their secrets in the ebooks? Yes. But thats all old hat now! Why? Because google changes its operations nearly weekly now and aren't afraid to deny you money that your reports say they owe you. Is it legal? Yes! Why? Because they reserve the right to change their TOS or "Terms Of Service" at any time with or without notice. This doesn't mean that they are crooks. This simply means that in order for them to provide excellence in online search while remaining number one, they must make huge decisions at a moments notice.

One old trick of the trade in adsense adplacement is to place ads really close to a link or image hoping a mis click could take place by a visitor. Google soon caught on and soon! And went on to re write their policy and made that against the rules. Another trick peple would and still try which is still against the rules is to beg you to click their ads. Google has announced openly over and over again that they do not allow this practice. So while you may be on the right road to success with adsense be sure to follow their simple rules which are laid out in their guidelines.

Cramming pages? If you cram your pages with confusing links, images and other content your site visitors will not be pleased! They probably got to your page by accident anyways. The reason I can honestly come to that conclusion is because you aren't organized! Well....If your page is crammed with confusion I can honestly come to that assesment. I can also assess that your over all adsense earnings are either very low or almost non existant. Lets work on that! How to maximize ad exposure with the least amount of ads, while making revenues, while staying on topic, while providing fresh content!

You will surely want to read this section. Lets start at the top. Find a niche topic that you love researching. Then compare it to competitors who also offer the same information. Now on your desktop open a blank notepad and write a few HOTT paragraphs with the HOTTEST relevant keywords most used while searching an engine for your topic or information. Make sure these few paragraphs are content rich! In other words. Make sure they are on point and offer you what you'd want to read if you were searching for your site on the web as a potential visitor.

Now pick a relevant domain name that is simple and easy to say! The reason why is because word of mouth still works online and still works offline as well! People write and talk about websites every day! So keep this in mind when choosing a relevant domain name.

Now find a reliable web host and pay for hosting. Just buy the minimal hosting that provides you with advertisement free website hosting. You don't want your webhosts ads all over your page! Now get a free web template online that you like and edit it to your liking. Now upload this template while keeping a copy on your desktop of the page content. Everytime you change your page content and you are pleased with it save the page source to the copy on your desktop in case of data loss or server crashing.

Now research your topic from the inside out and create separate pages describing your topic. From articles to on topic news to on topic products etc.

Now subscribe to a general world news feed in rss format and insert it into a table on each of your pages. No need for big huge complicated overwhelming feeds! Just keep it simple. This provides you updated content on general world news daily! This is essential for those times when you just don't feel like updating your topics.

Now sign up for a google adsense account and place a banner ad at eye level that displays text and image ads. Now if you want and have plenty of room get a side bar adsense ad and put it down lower on the left and right.

When you have the site the way you want it. And it loads in decent time. And you feel really good about it. Create a simple sitemap for google's crawler by placing a simple notepad document entitled sitemap.txt into the root folder of every webpage within your site. In each sitemap it should only list the pages full URL one URL per line. For example if I had a site named exaample.com and I had 3 sub pages in the same directory on my server I would list each of the three full URL's one per line in one sitemap.txt file and I would upload it to the same folder each pages index file is located. Practice this until you get it right. There is an XML sitemap procedure that can be referred to but it is much more complicated and takes more time although it does work better. Now visit your google account and submit your main site URL within your account and also submit the full URL path to each sitemap you have created. When this is all finished submit your website to every free search engine online and be patient. Start blogging like a mad man and every few days visit your google account and take a look at your reports! Research your reports and know them well! When you change a strategy from within your website these reports will soon reflect this. Be patient though! Googles crawl service may not get to crawl your pages for a few days or a week! So give it a couple of weeks before making major changes. But always update your content. I wish you luck and success in google adsense and I hope that this article helped you figure out how some of the lesser talked about topics pertaining to google adsense are handled. Thanks for reading! David Batterson MyTurboTraffic.com.

Many people seek information on attaining decent "pr" (page rank) with google. They ususally start somewhere when they begin and usually its a pretty simple web page with a google ad. If they are insistent upon reaching success with google adsense that page will turn into something bigger. Usually when someone wants to achieve success they do not want to cut corners. They need to be ambitious and continue to look for a niche. Premade google adsense pages usually come with some sort of news feed in RSS and they usually have other auto update features. I don't really like this idea for auto content. Automated content is not as effective as people would like you to believe. The reason why is because usually your own auto content feeder is set to update content that is relative to your site. Well every single webmaster who runs a site that has the same content and feeder settings are nearly duplicating your site by coincidence.
Rich fresh content is the ultimate key. I stress this repeatedly throughout all of my google articles and let me say that it is important. Do not copy content from other websites! Now don't worry. You won't likely get sued for it. It will just keep you from standing out in the search results. And standing out is exactly what you are attempting to achieve! In the short "how to" paragraph below I will explain how to "stay fresh" on the web. I will update this article when my free ebook is finished to allow you to download more information and help on improving your site content and helping you deliver fresher content more often.
A Few Simple Steps To Achieving Fresh Content Daily For Free! First make sure you are not doing the following. I am not copying content from other websites to get fresh content daily.
This is important. Fresh content is your own content! You can NOT get fresh content when you are getting it from another online source. This is a misleading scam that many websites use to get people to subscribe via rss or to copy and paste snippets of code to increase their pr by having their content on so many other peoples websites. I am not falling for software offers that promise fresh content daily via php script. These can be useful in providing stickyness but should not be used as a fresh content daily strategy that you turn on and walk away from. These tools should be used only in addition to your own daily fresh content inserts into your page source. I am not displaying more ads than content!
This one surely doesn't get enough attention! People can tell if you are straining for content when your page is more than 60% ads and 40% or less is decent alluring content. Be original and at least attempt to balance out your content so that your pages are unique and can get more people bookmarking them. Nowadays people bookmark pages in so many ways like "Digg" and "Facebook" and so many others including "Stumble" and the classic browser bookmarks. These are pr building bookmarks! They work well to build your page rank and are considered backlinks!
Begin Building Fresh Adsense Pages That Are Rich And Fresh In Content! First you need a niche topic that is really hot! Like maybe a page on celebrities for example. If you watch a lot of television you could keep up to date on this by checking out the Entertainment News channels. Sure its old news by the time it hits your page but the point is its written in your own words and you are going to update this daily. This will become your sole duty when online everyday. Always check the top headlines on all of the news channels that cover Entertainment so that you will be quick to jot the new facts down. Also if you have DVR you will be able to really shine through on your research with the ability to be more accurate in your writing by recording the news while you watch in case you need to hear a story again to make an accurate update on your page. Find interesting facts about your favorite actors and actresses including their autobiographies and their likings or interests and create a master template for a few pages that way about different people in Hollywood. Then have a separate table within that page where you show the latest news you have found out about this person. Then you can include a table where you update the current box office standings and then you can place your auto update feeds in the templates. Now everyday while you are online have the television on in the background and keep up to date on the latest news in the hot Entertainment scene and when a HUGE story breaks you can be one of the first people to post it online. This will get you up in the rankings. When a HUGE story on Entertainment hits and you update your page with it that page should not get updated. Keep it the way it is and only update the latest on that HUGE story. This will become a major archive of your site that people will begin to backlink for you. Now when you have several pages that you update all of the time and a few really good archive pages that have HUGE stories that lots of people are interested in you will notice your page rank starting to increase. This should help get you well on your way to being backlinked and to rise above the rest in link popularity on the web for your niche topic! If you like this article please digg it for me! Thanks! When you're trying to run an online business, you need to be aware of your traffic counts at all times. These are the counts of how many people are visiting your website on any given day. The more people you have visiting your site, the more likely it will be that your profits will also go up. So, it's essential that you not only monitor these numbers, but also become concerned when you see a sudden drop in the traffic counts. Here are the four things you should do when you see your traffic numbers drop.

Check the Site

Before you begin to panic, you will want to try to pull up your own site to see if you can see it. If you can easily pull it up, there maybe nothing technically wrong with it. Check the content next to see if something was placed onto your site unintentionally or if anyone hacked your website and made it completely different from what you meant your site to look like. Take a few minutes to go over all of the main pages of your site and then see if you can get into your site as a customer would. If everything looks okay, you might have other problems you need to work on.

Call the Web Host

If you can't access your site, but you can access other websites, the problem may lie in the services of your web host. If the server is down, you will not be able to access the site, causing your customers to not be able to access it as well. When a web host server goes down often, the traffic counts will begin to drop as the customers become more wary of whether your site will be available. Or, if there is a sudden drop in the numbers, you might simply need to get the server repaired or your information switched over to a backup server so that it can be broadcast to your customers. When your web host is crashing more often than it should, you need to start looking for a new web host.

Look Back Over Changes You've Made

When a sudden drop in your traffic occurs, you might want to stop to think about what changes you've made recently. Did you change your prices? Did you change your images? Any sort of changes might be the reason for your change in traffic count. When your customers are accustomed to certain features on your site or certain menus, it might take them a while to get used to them - or the drop in your counts might be a sign that they simply don't like what you've done at all. To respond to this situation, you might want to change your site to its original format and see what happens to the traffic counts then.

Wait it Out

But sometimes, there is simply no rhyme or reason to the traffic counts dropping - they just do. And if you can, simply wait it out to see what happens over the course of the next week. If your site is up and running and it's still working the way it should, you might simply be experiencing a temporary shift in the market, which will eventually turn around. When you're still getting new site visitors and old customers, you might just need to wait it out until things get back to normal. Perhaps there's a new site that just started and that is drawing attention to itself for the moment. Once customers realize that you are still the better business, they'll be back.

Links to your website can bring you more traffic and get you listed higher with the search engines. When you exchange links you put up a link to another site and they put up a link to you. That is called a two way link. They are not as good as a one way link where there is a link to your website only. A good way to get one way links is submitting a link to a directory website. There are thousands of these directory websites. People could go there to find websites and to add their link to it.

Each of these websites has their own rules. Many of them offer 3 choices. You submit your information and they review it and decide whether to accept it. One choice is a free submission. Some sites may say that with this choice it may take up to 6 months before they review your site. These groups want you to create links back to them so they can become bigger. When you do this then you are submitting a reciprocal link. This is a higher priority and it gets reviewed sooner than the other links and has other perks.

Then there is the paid for link called possibly a featured link. This type of link gets looked at the soonest and you get other perks like being able to submit other pages of your website in addition to the main page. Submitting these links to so many sites can take a lot of work. Some sites offer to do it for you if you pay them. So that is something you can try.

A way of getting two way links is by exchanging links. You can just look for sites that you like and ask them if the want to exchange links. there are also link exchange places that help you to do this. This group has many people that are looking to exchange links with you or you can ask them to exchange links. I have been using one of these for 2 years.

With the group I use, if a site requests a link from you, they have to put up the link first. Then they check it and notify you that it was done and for you to do the same. Many of these sites will put your link on a page that is not connected to their website so no one will ever see it. The exchange group can check that the link is on the page but the page might not be connected to the website which means it does you no good. So you have to check this. There are many unscrupulous people on the internet.

When it comes to links to your website there is a difference of how much it helps you. The Google page rank is a way to measure how much a link from that site helps you. The higher the number the better. The numbers are from 0 to 10. Some experts tell you not to exchange links with a site that has a PR of 0. If it is a bad site, it could hurt you to have a link to it. Some say not to exchange links with a site that has a PR lower than yours.

Regardless of why you have a website, the truth is that if you have one, you need to drive traffic to it. Many people have simple websites just for sharing family photos or someplace for friends to interact. Other people make a full time living from having their own websites. No matter what your situation, the more traffic you have, the better.

But a perennial problem remains: how do you increase website traffic? Aside from shelling out money for those "traffic building" packages or paying for links (which is getting to be really hazardous to your website's page rankings and overall standing with Google), there are still several strategies for driving traffic to your website - and keeping them there. I'm going to present you with a few good ones:

Keyword Searches - There are several keyword tools on the Internet that can help you increase web site traffic, if you know how to use them properly. I'm talking about tools like Yahoo!'s KW Selector Tool, Wordtracker, KWDiscovery, and Google's KW Tool, to name a few. Using these tools, you can search for high-traffic keywords or phrases that have some relevance to your business or website, but with very little or no advertisers using them at all. Effective keyword research will enable your business' brand to develop and give your site more exposure in the search engines.

Just be sure to provide your visitors with the kind of content they're looking for - whether in the form of listed resources, articles, multimedia, or the like. Doing so will help your site get the best kind of publicity there is in the form of viral marketing - where word of mouth about the quality of your site spreads like wildfire, bringing more traffic to your website and keeping them there.

Controversy is the Key - Sometimes emotions get the better of people, especially when they see, hear, or read about something that they strongly feel about. Why not use these emotions and put them to use to channel traffic to your site? Your main targets will be impassioned and (sometimes) overzealous Internet users who harbor strong feelings about a particular topic. Just generate controversial content using articles, blog posts, videos, or statistical reports (whichever method is applicable).

Once your content is ready, you must be prepared to make blog posts and comments in other venues such as forums, that may be appropriate or useful. If done effectively, this method will increase web site traffic for you through various sources, but most of it may come directly from the individual or organization you challenged. Make sure that you handle all feedback and discussions in a professional manner, though. Doing so will allow you to develop a respectable persona online, even with those whom you are disagreeing with.

Get out and go to events - The type of event may vary depending on your interests but they are a great place to find sources of traffic. Gaming expos, tech shows, the like - all can be taken advantage of to bring great and updated content to your website, and droves of traffic along with it. Try to cover the event as much as possible by taking pictures, shooting some videos, making new friends and acquaintances, and taking detailed notes all the while.

Of course, make sure that everyone knows you're going to feature all this stuff on your site within the next few days (the sooner the better). This is a great way to really increase traffic and the visitors can range from hundreds to thousands. In some cases you can generate tens of thousands or more. It will depend on many factors including the size of the event and also it's popularity. As an additional tip, underground or exclusive events make for better coverage - but be sure to get permission first.

There are countless ways to increase website traffic. Many of them are probably familiar to you. Effective use of these methods will allow you to see a boost to your website traffic for a long time to come.

McDonald's Happy Meals and Disney's toys. Garmin's GPS and Hertz's rental cars. These are all tried-and-true joint venture marketing partnerships that have led to significant success - and increased revenues.

The underlying fundamentals of joint venture marketing are simple. You partner with a company and have them deliver your message to their customer base. In turn, your collaboration partner garners a percentage of your profits by expanding their asset offerings.

Whenever Disney has a new movie arriving in theaters, they utilize McDonald's as a marketing partnership to generate additional excitement and exposure. In turn, McDonald's capitalizes upon the popularity of the movie and makes additional Happy Meal sales.

With the relationship between Garmin and Hertz, the benefits are significantly twofold. Garmin's legitimacy undergoes a significant boost, as Hertz is actively promoting the product. In addition, Garmin demonstrates to the end user how effective its GPS systems work, thus having essentially days to engage in first-hand marketing to the consumer. On the other hand, Hertz gains additional profits from renting out the Garmin units as an addition to their rental car fees.

Whether you own a multibillion dollar corporation or a one-person operation, any business can capitalize upon the powers of joint venture marketing. In fact, joint venture marketing is much more effective than your traditional advertising campaigns - where you toot your own horn to a critical audience.

For example, if you see a banner advertisement extolling the virtues of X Company's software, you would review it with a weary eye. Consumers, both subconsciously and consciously, believe that they should be critical of any self-promoting advertisement. Therefore, not only do you have to overcome this initial skepticism, but you must compel them enough to click through to your website.

On the other hand, if their favorite blogger mentions the power of X Company's software, the consumers are much more inclined to take a look at the product. In fact, they already have a good impression, and thus, chances are they will become a converted sale. You eliminate the barriers of skepticism, as well as the lack of motivation to view your website. The other company also enjoys increased revenues, typically through a commission on all leads or sales.

Thus, one of the most effective ways you can promote your website is through joint venture marketing. By capitalizing upon the relationships that other companies have already built with their customer base, your products can enjoy the benefit of a positive first impression.

If you're not normally a computer person, the entire process of setting up a business website can be a terrifying process. Not only is coding difficult to understand, but it can take months or years to learn. With new site building services, you don't have to worry as much about how to put the pieces together; however, you still need to think about what happens once your site is up and running. How many people are stopping by to see your site is imperative for your success.

Your website needs to be an active part of your business. Think of your site as a virtual shop where visitors are the customers who come in to browse your selection. If you don't have a steady stream of people coming in, you won't have anyone staying to make a purchase. This is measured as traffic on your website. When you have a lot of traffic, you have a higher chance of getting more revenue. This makes sense, but how does reading about your traffic report help you?

Watching the Traffic Helps You Make Changes

If you've just made an adjustment to your website, the traffic report can tell the tale of whether your new site is a success or not. Because you will be keeping track of your traffic over the course of the time before you make changes, you can see what happens immediately after the changes take place. If you notice that the traffic counts sharply go up, this can be interpreted as a surge in curious visitors. But when the surge doesn't stay up or it begins to fall very low, you might want to reconsider the changes you've just made. While not every drop in visitor traffic is a signal for you to make changes in your website, it is good to note when the count drops significantly. Try to keep a chart or a list of the traffic numbers that you can look over at the beginning and the end of each week. This will help you see trends in the website traffic as you change items on the site as well as for certain times of the year.

A Sharp Decrease in Traffic Might Signal a Server or Host Problem

When you're closely monitoring the traffic counts on your website, you will be able to tell when there is a significant problem with your site. If you suddenly notice that your site is showing no traffic or very small traffic numbers, you should become alarmed ' immediately. These are usually signs of a server or a hosting problem that you should know about before you see these low traffic counts, but sometimes you will not. By taking the time to look over your traffic counts regularly, you will notice this problem as soon as it happens. And then call your hosting company to see what is happening. Sometimes the servers will crash on occasion, but when you notice that it may have happened a few times in the past ' it might be a sign that you need a new hosting service.

Seeing Rises in Traffic Can Help You with Sales Plans

By keeping track of how many visitors go to your site on a weekly basis, you can begin to see when more visitors are on the site on most weeks. This can help you know when to put up sales and other discounts. You have two options in this situation. You can put the sales 'signs' up when more people are on the site or you can place these sales up on the site on days when traffic is slower in order to start to boost traffic on those days. Either way works, or you might want to create a schedule that switches back and forth between these two options.

With a good email marketing strategy you can bring new people to your business's web site and help the customers that you already have learn about new things that your business is doing. However, you want to make sure that you make the right choices with an email campaign.

Everyone is tired of getting spam, but people are actually interested in receiving email about things which they want to buy. If you have a product that people will be interested in, email marketing will not be seen as an annoyance but as an opportunity for people to find solutions to their needs.

Today, the entire process can be automated. Email scripts that are freely available on the internet today give you the ability to put together opt-in lists from people who have given you their email address on your web site ' people who have already given you the okay to send them information. Instead of buying lists of random email addresses, it is much better to have the people who are attracted to your site because they are interested in your products to give you their addresses for free.

Once you have people receiving your marketing emails, it is important in today's marketing world that you provide an opt-out option. It has to be possible for people who do not want to continue receiving your emails to prevent more emails from coming in. Most scripts today make this possible by including a link at the bottom of the email that the user can click on to be removed from the list.

Some scripts work by requiring the recipient to send a reply with a certain message in the body or header, but with a link in the marketing email itself you make things easier for the potential (or current) customer. Something to remember is that people have various reasons for opting out of receiving further emails. Maybe their account has become too cluttered and they only want to receive certain kinds of messages on it; by allowing people not to receive emails if they do not want to you demonstrate your respect for your customers and increase the probability that they will think positively of your business. You also prevent people from marking your marketing emails as spam and reporting you to the internet authorities, which can make it harder for you to continue with your online marketing by email.

Finally, you need to think about when and how often you should send an email. This partly depends on the kind of product that you are selling, but a good general rule of thumb is about once per month. A monthly reminder will help keep people aware of your business without annoying them to the point that they want to stop receiving info.

You should also have regular promotions in your emails ' do not just send emails to remind people that you exist. Have your promotional emails give people who have joined your mailing list some kind of special discount (a discount advertised for mailing list members on your web site is a good way to get people to sign up for your mailings in the first place). When people receive an email from you they will be more likely to click on it and see what kind of new deal you are offering this time.

Follow these rules for email marketing and you will get the best kind of response from your customers shopping on the World Wide Web.

Having launched more than 100 specialist content websites for clients over the last six months, I often get asked this question. My answer is always twofold.

Over the long term, which I suggest is 12 to 24 months, good-quality, highly focused and regularly updated content websites will triumph.

Google and the search engines are getting far better at separating the wheat from the chaff. They are 100% focused on finding the best content for each particular search request.

Once the search engines have visited your site and made an initial positive assessment, they will keep coming back and re-indexing your content. The more content you publish, the more frequently they will return. The more they like what they see, the higher they will rank you on the search results pages. The higher up the results list you appear, the more people will see your links and click on them. Hopefully, some of these visitors like what they read so much that they link to it from their websites or blogs. These inbound links from other sites are seen as positive endorsements of your content by the search engines, which respond by improving your site's position on the search results pages.

And so the virtuous circle goes on and the traffic to your website increases.

The moral of this story is: keep publishing great content and don't give up just because you don't see instant results.

But this all takes time.

What can you do if you want to increase the number of visitors coming to your website?

There is a lot you can do. In fact, if you undertook all the activities that could build traffic, you would have no time to create content.

So where should you focus your early marketing efforts to get the greatest long-term benefits?

The answer is to build your presence, reputation and authority with your target audience so that you have a firm foundation of loyal and supportive readers who will help spread the word about you and your site.

To achieve this goal in the shortest possible time, you should focus on the handful of people in your market who can make a big difference. They will be characterized in the following ways:

1. They have a relevant audience of their own, probably via their own website or blog.

2. They have a good reputation for being authorities in your sector.

3. They are interested in what you write about.

4. They have shown they are happy to provide links from their site to other websites.

These are the people you need to engage with, so they will talk about you and what you have to say. If you are mentioned in articles written by perceived experts, you become endorsed as an expert yourself. This will bring targeted and relevant traffic to your website and will start building a loyal audience.

So how do you work with these very busy people who are continually being pestered for endorsements?

Here are some good ideas:

1. Get on the Radar - The best way to get on another blogger's radar is to get him or her to see you as a useful and helpful ally. Most bloggers' sites allow people to add comments after articles. The quality of these comments improves the site and turns it into a community. To get noticed, you should regularly add good-quality, well-thought-out comments on all the sites you want to work with.

2. Link to Their Blogs or Websites - Every successful blogger or website owner knows the importance of inbound links, so show your support by providing links to those sites, referring to specific articles (with links) and talking about them in comments and forums on other people's websites.

3. Get in Contact - Once you have established yourself as a supporter, it is time to get in touch directly. But a word of warning; DON'T go straight in with a request for a link to your website. This will undo all the good work you have done so far. First you need to build a personal relationship, so think about how you can help the person be more successful. Here are some approaches that I know have worked:

a. Ask if you can do an interview, which you will publish on your site. Better still, make it a podcast that you publish on iTunes and similar sites.

b. Offer to write an article about a subject you know is highly relevant to that person's audience for exclusive publication on his or her website. Try to become a regular guest writer.

c. Ask if you can republish on your website a specific article he or she has written.

d. If you have written an ebook, invite the person to be an official reviewer.

e. Ask him or her to comment on a particular article on your site that is relevant to something he or she has previously said.

4. Meet in Person - Nothing beats meeting in person to cement a relationship. Arranging to meet is usually best achieved at industry events, unless you are fortunate enough to live near the person.

5. Encourage Community on Your Website - Once you have engaged with all the key influencers in your sector, your ultimate goal is for them to start visiting your website regularly to see what you are writing about. When they visit, you ideally want them to leave comments or participate in your forum. For this to happen, you need to have created a community where you are visible and active.

Summary

Engaging with and being recognized by the key online movers and shakers in your niche is one of the fastest ways to build a core audience and credibility. Do everything you can to help these people become successful, and you will reap the rewards. Remember, to have friends you've got to be a friend!

Author: Bill Platt (c) 2008 the Phantom Writers

Some people find great success with article marketing, while others think its proponents are full of bull. The difference between the winners and the losers in article marketing is most frequently defined when the writer sits down and begins to write. That is right. Success and failure is most often determined by the writers' motivation, and more importantly, by the writers' commitment to the reader.

Flawed Strategies

In 2005, a few of the Internet Marketing gurus took notice of the success people were having with article marketing, and they passed this news to the Internet Marketing newbies of the world. But, there was something missing from the advice given.

In a lot of cases, the people preaching the power of article marketing hadn't used the technique themselves. Even today, few of my article distribution competitors utilize reprint articles to promote their own businesses. Most of my competitors rely upon affiliate marketing to promote their websites.

Unfortunately, the Internet Marketing newbies of the world were given a lot of bad advice. It was said that:

* The only purpose of article marketing was to build links, and link popularity for search engine rankings;

* The writer only needed to write enough words to meet the minimum word count requirements of publishers;

* It wasn't necessary for the content to be well-written, since the publishers do not read the articles they approve for publication;

* Anything that can be done to reduce the time/cost of article writing would benefit the marketer.

The only suggestion that bore any resemblance to the truth was the first item about "building links for link popularity", but the error in this statement was to assume that there was no other purpose for article marketing.

The Bigger Picture

I have been using article marketing to promote my own websites since 1999, and I have offered article-marketing services professionally since 2000 and under my current domain since 2001. I had been using article marketing and providing services for at least five years, before the gurus started leading the uninitiated Internet Marketers astray in 2005.

As one of the pioneers in this industry, I have always attributed three benefits to article marketing, in this order:

1. Publication in a newsletter ensures that thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of readers, can read ones' article when it is published. (Frequently, publication day for my articles will generate phone calls from many potential customers and multiple sales, sometimes thousands in sales.)

2. Publication on a website increases the likelihood that your article will be found and read on websites that have targeted and loyal visitors.

3. Building links for link popularity and improved search rankings.

I haven't ever denied the ability to use articles to build ones' link popularity and to improve ones' ranking in the search engines. In fact, my website ranks in the top 20 results in Google for hundreds of keywords.

But in my experience, using articles to improve search rankings is something that is ranked at #3 in my líst, because it is a long-term play. Your ability to rank in Google for specific keywords is influenced significantly by what your competitors have done before you. I have used this example many times before, but if you want to rank for the keyword "travel" against such websites as: Expedia, Yahoo, Orbitz, The Travel Channel, CNN, Travelocity, Lonely Planet, USA Today, the New York Times, and the U.S. Government; then you better bring a huge budget to the contest.

Once the newbie in Internet Marketing is aware of the challenges of the search rankings game, then the newbie is better prepared to target and get realistic results from an article marketing campaign.

What Newsletter Publishers Require From Their Writers

While it may be true that a few article directory managers do not review articles before publication, it is not true of all article directories. Directories such as EzineArticles.com, IdeaMarketers.com, Website-Articles.net, InvisibleMBA.com, ArticleStars.com, ArticleDashboard.com, and Isnare.com have editors who personally review each and every article posted to their directories, to ensure that the articles meet the directory's editorial guidelines.

And, newsletter publishers personally read and approve every single article they publish. Why? In order for a publisher to be able to sell high-dollar advertising, the newsletter must attract and retain loyal readers. In order to get and keep readers, the newsletter must "absolutely" publish content that its readers appreciate receiving and want to read.

Herein lies "the secret to success" in article marketing. Not only do newsletter publishers read articles, seeking to find the content that will ensure the loyalty of their readers, the website publishers who have served loyal audiences for several years also strive to provide their readers only the best content available.

Article Spinner Software Stops Short Of Serving The Reader

No matter how well the Content Spinner software sellers may write their sales copy, one would be a fool to trust computers to write the kind of articles that people want to read.

Remember, the newsletter publisher and the successful webmaster are solely focused on finding content that will keep their readers loyal to them. Also remember that the "link building game for link popularity" is a long-term play that could take years to see fruition.

Given this knowledge, why would someone who is truly seeking success online be willing to trust that the article spinners are able to develop articles that would pass the "human eye test" or even the "smell test"?

What The Article Marketing Professionals Have To Say

I know that I have always suggested that one should take into account what someone is selling, before taking his or her word at face value. Since I sell ghostwriting services, it is absolutely in your best interests to take my words with much skepticism. BUT... I am not the only professional Internet Marketer with this viewpoint. Following are quotes by people whose names you may recognize.

Christopher Knight of Ezine Articles was asked, "How much must I change or rewrite my article so that your content filters won't reject it or suspend my account?" Chris responded, "The answer is all of it. Seriously, don't rewrite your articles. Just create new ones. It's not that hard." Chris added that derivative content adds no value to his website. http://blog.ezinearticles.com/2008/07/content-filtering.html

Chris McElroy from ArticleContentProvider.com says, "Computer-generated articles can never replace hand-written original content. Just getting articles into article directories does not help your link popularity, so submitting garbage will get you nothing in return. Only when your articles are reprinted in newsletters, ezines, websites, and blogs that are related to your topic do you get any value from article marketing. Those who think otherwise don't understand the first thing about article marketing or SEO."

Allen Taylor, who contributes to the Article Content Provider Blog was asked to review someone's article spinner software. I am sure the guy who requested the review is kicking himself in the butt right now; since Allen proceeded to show his readers exactly how worthless the software is in the real world.

Allen concluded his review with the following words: "I would not recommend rewriting your articles. Just write fresh articles that don't threaten to have problems like the ones noted above. Really, it doesn't take long to write a 500-word article that can be used for article marketing or other online marketíng purposes. If you're going to do something, why not do it right?"

Willie Crawford (TIMIC.ORG) is not an article-marketing professional. Instead, he is a professional marketer, who uses article marketing to promote the many websites that make up his online empire. Willie is a seven-figure earner, and yet, he continues writing new articles whenever he has the time to do so.

Willie said: "I've looked at numerous 'article spinners' and seen that the output from them was generally so incoherent that it would have been an insult to my readers."

"I respect my readers and realize that writing is communicating one human to another. That's why all of the articles that I publish are unique and not software generated variations of my work."

Communicating One Human To Another

Those people who have found the greatest success utilizing article marketing as a promotional tool are those who understand that article marketing is best-used as a tool to communicate "one human to another."

At the beginning of this article, I suggested, "Success and failure is determined by the writers' motivation, and more importantly, by the writers' commitment to the reader."

Successful newsletter publishers are those who have made a commitment to keep their readers interested and reading every issue. Successful webmasters and bloggers are those who have made a commitment to keeping their readers satisfied and coming back to their websites frequently. All are looking for article content that will attract readers to their publications and ensure reader loyalty.

The successful article marketer is the person who understands his or her audience and gives his or her audience exactly what they want.

The article must convince the newsletter publisher that his or her subscribers will value the message in the article enough to read the next issue. The article must convince the Webmaster and Bloggers that the article will keep a reader on his or her website for a while longer. And finally, the reader must be thankful for having been given the opportuníty to read the article.

In the end, the decision is yours. Are you simply happy complaining about what could have, should have been with the articles you have written. Or, do you want to invest what will be required to make sure your article marketing campaigns are successful?.

If you have an Internet marketing business, you already know how important list building

is to your future profits. On average, most successful online business owners commit about 90% of their marketing efforts to list building.

But the rewards for these efforts can be great. With a good list building campaign, you can easily add 300 people to your list each month. This works out to about 3600 subscribers each year. And when you consider that you can expect to earn about one dollar per subscriber each month, it works out to some pretty respectable numbers.

So how can your list make you money? Recommend targeted products to your subscribers about once a week. Make sure that you are familiar with the items you are promoting. You should never recommend products that you are not familiar with. Only promote the highest quality items at the most attractive prices.

Provide your subscribers with plenty of free ebooks, reports and software so that they look forward to receiving your emails. This ensures that your emails will get opened and your offers will get read. If you send out nothing but sales pitches, your subscribers will quickly come to realize that your emails offer nothing of real value and they will stop opening your emails and unsubscribe from your list.

Another great way to earn easy money from your list is by offering advertising space to others. You can offer small ads that fit within your existing message or sell full page solo ads that are sent out alone. You will be surprised at how many active marketers are looking for new places to advertise.

The point is, there are many ways that you can make money with a list and the bigger your list, the bigger your income. So get busy and commit some time and marketing efforts to building your list.

Radio advertising is an innovative way to reach thousands, and sometimes millions of listeners. It is an art in and of itself and you face the challenge of having a limited time, it's generally sold in slots of 15, 30, and 60 second duration, to get your message across to your audience. Therefore, the right things need to be said in order to create a lasting impression with your listeners.

An advertising guru once said: "the aim of radio advertising is to sell the sizzle not the bacon." Also you have to place your ads at the same times that your target is more likely to be listening. If your customers are late night listeners then it wouldn't make any sense to run your spots early in the morning. It is a great marketing tool for helping you promote your online business and is a very powerful medium.

It can be a very productive way for a company to use its advertising dollars if it's done correctly. Radio advertising usually is more effective if it's combined with some other form of advertising. For example, print or television ads run in conjunction with your radio campaign can be very effective. Radio advertising is invasive and persuasive and reaches a captive audience.

Another reason why radio may be advantageous is that your target may not be magazine readers or television watchers and this medium may be the only way to get their attention. Internet Marketers also need to realize that radio advertising is, in some cases, far less expensive than other forms of advertising.

Plus, with the popularity of Internet Radio sky rocketing this offers another audience to tap into and the list of benefits derived from radio is growing exponentially. Radio advertising is another way to get one's online business or organization recognized both locally and nationally if that's your goal. For those entities looking to reach as many people as possible, it is simply another convenient marketing solution.

Another major advantage of radio advertising is that it is inexpensive to produce ads and to place them. This allows small business owners the luxury of placing advertisements on more than one station in a given market. Direct response radio advertising is a very powerful way to grow your business profitably. According to John Blackledge analyst with JP Morgan, Internet radio advertising was estimated at $500 million in 2007.

Local radio advertising is limited to a specific and contained demographic area and is both considerably less costly to produce and can be narrowly tailored to the audiences of particular stations. Of all the traditional advertising media, radio advertising is the least avoided, according to Canadian media studies.

Offline methods have been shown to be very effective at driving traffic online. If increasing Web traffic is your goal, and why shouldn't it be, then using traditional media outlets to increase traffic should be a part of your internet marketing strategy. Ultimately, you'll need to weigh the pros and cons to decide whether radio advertising is right for your business.

Information products only pay the owner and affiliate sales. No inventory to store, no big upfront costs and if it doesn't sell, just transfer it to an archive file or hit the delete key. When you consider all of those factors, the information product owner has freedom to set the prices with one exception - what will the market pay?

That's the tricky part. Ebooks are well established in every genre from textbooks to popular topics so the price is dependent on the market and the following of the author. Let's say you're starting out and lack that major following, how do you price your product?

Start by surveying the prices on comparable information products on at least a dozen sites or vendors. Have you noticed that many information products end in '7'? Popular pricing is $17, $27, $47.

This price seems to click with many buyers. Other frequently used price points are $9.95, $19.95, $39.95. The '.95' is borrowing a retailer's trick of making the price sound less than it really is.

After all, $19.95 isn't a full twenty bucks since buyers tend to ignore the impact of retail tax or shipping. With information products delivered electronically, the $19.95 is the true price, leaving a big nickel for whatever a nickel still buys.

It's not the nickel - it the psychological satisfaction of spending less than twenty dollars. The $17 products have the same appeal of spending less than twenty dollars. Look for the middle ground in pricing.

Avoid starting too low or the value of your product won't be seen as worthwhile. Even if you start slightly higher than comparables, you have room for a price reduction or a 'special offer' at the next lowest price point.

Special bonus offers are another great way to build up value in your offer. You can find free or very cheap Private Label Rights(PLR) the allow you to give away free eBooks, software, or free trials that, combined with your offer, which makes the value go way up - and everyone loves to get something for nothing.

**Key tip** Make sure your free bonuses are of the highest quality. If they are not, it will decrease the value your offer, and yourself as an expert in that niche.

Think of how many times you see the infamous television infomercials that flash the price as $129 with reductions that end up at $39.95. The buyer gets excited about getting a discount when the product was never going to sell at the inflated price in the first place. It's about letting the buyer win.

Price only matters as part of the equation. Don't give your buyers a reason to focus on the price. Keep them focused on the product and the excitement of the purchase and they'll be willing to pay based on the perceived value and not the dollar amount you put on your product.

The world of search engine optimisation can be perilous if you do not have sufficient knowledge to understand the tactics you are implementing. While everyone wants top search engine rankings, not everyone is convinced pursuing these at all costs is a great idea. This is where the optimisation industry is split along the lines of 'white hat SEO' and 'black hat SEO'. Both utilise methods that will increase rankings although the majority of those in the know realise that while the benefits of black hat are definitely there in the short term, for long term rankings success, the only tactics to employ are white hat.

Below is a list of the five most commonly used black hat optimisation tactics that should be avoided. The reason they should be avoided is that while the unscrupulous methods may bring limited success, once the search engines and competitors pick up on the practices, which they will, chances are your website will be heavily penalised. Penalties include deductions from the rankings and even complete removal from search engine listings. These penalties can be extremely harmful to a website, seriously restricting the online business that can be performed.

Keyword stuffing.

Most optimisation companies recognise the importance of having a suitable number of keywords on a web page. However a rather unscrupulous method is to stuff a page full of keywords; the perceived benefit being that search engines will deem the site more relevant if it has more keywords. This however is a mistake; algorithms now recognise this as spammy method, good SEO specialists understand that it is better to have a reasonable number of keywords, rather than overusing them.

Cloaking.

Cloaking is a process that involves presenting the human user with a different website than the one visible to the search engine spiders. The reason it is considered black hat is that it is a tactic the purposely sets out to hoodwink the search engines with specialist content that will increase rankings. Some methods of cloaking are allowed however, if you have content designed for specific locations or if your page is password protected.

Hidden Text.

Like cloaking is the process of producing hidden text. The predominant way of doing this is to include text that is in a font the same colour as the background. Once again this is seen as unscrupulous as it deceives the search engines and human users by presenting different information to each.

Gateway Pages.

Some SEO specialists use a process of optimisation that creates pages with the specific purpose of ranking highly and linking a website to this gateway page. If the gateway page has no value to users and is there purely to gain rankings, penalties may be applicable.

Link Farms.

Many of the most popular search engines use link popularity as a determining factor in rankings. As a result some black hat SEO specialists create a network of pages that all link to each other, meaning that all have enough links to be deemed popular. This is viewed as being poor practice as the links are not relevant and purely set out to increase link popularity, once again, by doing this, a site will most likely be penalised.

Search engines have evolved steadily to weed out the uses of these practices so their results are relevant and trustworthy. While using these tactics may bring immediate success a better course of action is to pursue white hat methods as these will bring better results over a longer period. It may take a little longer but for long lasting rankings success it is the only path to follow.

Your website's search engine ranking is a vital element of one's overall marketing campaign; you can use many honest, legitimate methods to improve your link popularity. Unfortunately, the Internet is populated by dishonest webmasters who seek to improve their link popularity by faking out search engines. Search engines are now on guard for "spam" pages and sites that have increased their rankings by artificial means. When a search engines identifies such a site, that site is demoted in ranking or completely removed from the search engine's index.

The bad news is that some high quality, completely legitimate sites are being confused with these web pages criminals. Your page may be caught up in the "spam" net and tossed from a search engine's index. What should you do, and not do, to avoid this kind of problem?

Link popularity is based primarily on the quality of sites to which your site is linked. Google pioneered this criteria for assigning website ranking, and virtually all search engines on the Internet now use it. You must use extreme care about which sites you choose to link to; Google frequently imposes penalties on sites that have linked to other sites solely for the purpose of artificially boosting their link popularity. They have labeled these links "bad neighborhoods."

You will not be penalized when a bad neighborhood links to your site; a penalty is incurred only when you are the one sending out the link to a bad neighborhood. But you must check, and double-check, all the links active on your links page to ensure you haven't linked to a bad neighborhood.

The first thing to determine is whether or not the pages you have linked to have been penalized. The most direct way to do this is to download the Google toolbar at http://toolbar.google.com, where you will see that most pages are given a "Pagerank" represented by a sliding green scale on the Google toolbar.

Do not link to any site that shows no shade of green at all on the scale. This is especially important when the scale is completely gray. It is more than likely that these pages have been penalized. If you are linked to these pages, you may catch their penalty, and much like the flu, it may be difficult to recover from the infection.

By contrast, don't be afraid of linking to sites whose scale shows a tiny sliver of green. These sites have not been penalized, and their links may increase in value and popularity. However, do make sure that you closely monitor these kind of links to make sure that they do not sustain a penalty at any point and time.

Another smarmy trick that illicit webmasters use to artificially boost their link popularity is the use of hidden text. Search engines regard the words printed on web pages as a factor in forming their rankings, which means that if the text on your page contains your keywords, you have more of a chance to enhance your search engine ranking than a page not containing text inclusive of keywords.

Some webmasters have avoided the effects of this formula by concealing their keywords in such a way so that they are invisible to any visitors to their site. For example, they have used the keywords but made them the same color as the background of the page, such as a plethora of white keywords on a white background. You cannot see these words with the human eye; however, the eye of search engine spider can spot them easily. A spider is the program search engines use to index web pages, and when it sees these invisible words, it goes back and boosts that page's link ranking.

Most search engines have figured these illicit methods out and are assessing penalties for sites that use them. As soon as a search engine perceives the use of hidden text, the page is penalized.

The downside of this is that sometimes the spider is a bit overzealous and will penalize a page by mistake. For example, if the background color of your page is gray, and you have placed gray text inside a black box, the spider will note only the gray text and assume you are employing hidden text. To avoid any risk of false penalty, direct your webmaster not to use the same hue for text as for the background color of the page.

Another potential problem that can result in a penalty is "keyword stuffing." It is important to have your keywords appear in the text on your page, but sometimes you can go overboard in your efforts to avoid the wrath of the spiders. A search engine uses what is called "Keyphrase Density" to determine if a site is trying to artificially boost its ranking. This is the ratio of keywords to the rest of the words on the page. Search engines assign a limit to the number of times you can use a keyword before it penalizes your site.

This ratio is high, so it is difficult to surpass without sounding as if you are stuttering; unless, of course, your keyword is part of your company name. If this is the case keyword density will soar. If your keyword is "renters insurance," for example, be sure you don't use this phrase in every sentence. Edit the text on your site so that the copy flows naturally and the keyword is not repeated incessantly. A good rule of thumb is that your keyword should never appear in more than half the sentences on the page.

The final potential risk factor is known as "cloaking." To those of you who are diligent Trekkies, this concept should be easy to understand. For the rest of you, cloaking occurs when the server directs a visitor to one page and a search engine spider to a different page. The page the spider sees is "cloaked" because it is invisible to regular traffic, and deliberately set up to elevate the site's search engine ranking. A cloaked page tries to feed the spider everything it needs to rocket that page's ranking to the top of the list.

It is natural that search engines have responded to this act of deception with extreme enmity, imposing steep penalties on these sites. The problem on your end is that sometimes pages are cloaked for legitimate reasons, such as prevention against the theft of code, often referred to as "pagejacking." This kind of shielding is unnecessary these days due to the use of "off page" elements, such as link popularity, that cannot be stolen.

Make sure the webmaster understands that cloaking of any kind will put your website at great risk. Just as you must be diligent in increasing your link popularity and your ranking, you must also avoid unfair penalties on your site. So be sure to monitor your site closely and avoid any appearance of an artificial boost to your rankings.

A very important part of your Internet marketing and site promotion strategy should include search engine marketing so your site can get as much free organic search engine traffic as possible. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of optimizing a Web page or pages making them search engine friendly where they can be properly identified and scored by the search engines.

SEO makes it possible for your Website or blog to get a great ranking among other sites and uses methods such as on-page optimization and off-page optimization or also called link building a process of increasing the link popularity to your site.

One of the first stages of SEO pivots around targeting keywords and keyword phrases you want to rank for. Once you have done your market research you can optimize your page titles using a few keywords per page.

The most important thing is to write great compelling content that is useful to the people that read it. You don't want to write for the search engines, make sure you write in a way that will help pre-sell your products and services and lead people over to your Website.

Now, just having a great Website does not mean anything unless your site gets found by people who are looking for what you have to offer. You can only prosper when you get the right people visiting your site i.e. people who are keen on checking out the products and services that you offer. This can only happen if your site is optimized so it can be found and ranked by the search engines.

Search engine optimization differs from the other networking endeavors because the results allow your site to be found by anyone online at any time. By optimizing your WebPages correctly you can expect your pages to rank well once you get a few quality inbound links.

Unlike many online marketing strategies, SEO can actually pay for itself quickly if you have a good product or service that people desire. All SEO strategies are strategies that you can actually do yourself once you know what to do. Many business owners choose to save time by hiring search marketing experts to take care of their search marketing.

Your site can rank well in the major search engines, you just need to either educate yourself so you can learn how the search engines work or you can find a search marketing firm that can help you get your site ranking well in the search engines.

The Awesome Power Of SEO

Posted In: . By dens

What do Yahoo, MSN Live, Google, and every search engine have in common? They answer is, they love unique content and will eat it alive! Search engines like Google and Yahoo like websites that always have unique content and that are continually being updated and added to. Creating original content with help you achieve the high rankings that you are trying to get in the natural search listings. This is a rule that should be followed if you are doing your own SEO or if you are hiring someone to optimize your website for you.

Another huge factor in determining your search engine ranking is off page content and links pointing back to your website. This takes a lot of the control of your website's performance away from you. An SEO's job is to find keyword that you company can rank for, while getting the traffic that will convert to sales for you. An SEO will find those keyword and optimize your website for them. They will do this through a variety of methods including changing some things on your web pages and through link building.

Link building is the process of creating inbound links to your website. The link building methods that work the best are those that look natural to the search engines. The most popular way to do this today is by creating and publishing SEO optimized articles and submit them to article directories.

Not all articles created for the intent of boosting your search engine rankings are equally effective for link building. Companies go way wrong when they insert useless links into stolen or free content that is taken from websites that have no page rank and are practically obsolete. Other companies hire individuals to write articles for them who have no grasp on the English language or no background of SEO. Most of the time, these types of articles are nigh impossible to read or understand.

The number one reason search engines exist is to seek out useful, relative content and deliver it to the individual look for information about a certain topic. Unoriginal, copied content never makes it high in the search engine results. This is a key factor and concern when it comes to SEO.

You must always remember that when trying to boost your search engine rankings, content is king! To ensure that you are getting the most efficient work from your SEO, you wan to look for the one who will get you the highest quality of content, or risk wasting your time and your money.

There are many effective little techniques that encourage forum posting. One of the tricks that helps to encourage forum conversation is to end some of your posts with leading questions. "What do you think?" "How do you do it?" "Does anyone know how to ____?" Questions give an easy opening for the next person to post, just as they help foster conversation in real life.

If you start a new thread, it often is more successful if your first post is short and asks a question, as opposed to being several paragraphs in length that cover a topic more thoroughly. This is kind of surprising because you might have thought a longer post would be more intriguing, but try it and see! You'll notice a difference. So, even if you've thought about a topic a lot, try not to say much in the first post. This lets other people be "experts" too and they will enjoy the conversation.

In writing classes they often teach you to write strong. Strong writing is well thought out, authoritative, doesn't use the word, "I," has good grammar, spelling, and punctuation. But on a forum, it can intimidate others so that they won't post. If instead you say, "I think," "Gosh, how do you spell that?" include personal stuff, and so forth, it makes the writing less formal and more like you're sitting across the cafe table from an old friend! This makes others comfortable so they are more likely to open up.

Compliments about what someone posted before you also helps any of the readers to be comfortable posting because they interpret it as a friendly, gentle place. Whether face to face or online, other people will like it when they receive positive comments or are asked questions. It simply makes people feel like they are being listened to, and we all like that!

Timing is also important in encouraging good conversation on a forum. It's better to post two or three responses at a time every three or four hours, than to sit down for evening to post because it keeps the forum fresh and people get the feeling someone is always there for them to talk to. If they check in an hour or two after they posted and they see responses, well of course they'll be more likely to get involved in the forum than if they have to wait a day for a response.

So, you've added Adsense to your site and you are getting a few clicks. You could be thinking to yourself, how do I get a massive amount of visitors to bump up my earnings? If you're anything like me, you hear those stories about webmasters that have added Adsense and are already earning five figure incomes per month, and you start to see the dollar signs.
So you start brainstorming. You come up with a few ideas: email marketing, ebooks, trial software, etc. The thirst for Adsense dollars (and maybe a few affiliate dollars) is your main drive. Pushing massive amounts of traffic through your site can give you quite a thrill ride.
Then along comes the well known email that markets the traffic exchanges. If you aren't familiar with traffic exchanges, it's really very simple. You see, you sign up for their service (which often times is free) and your website is put in a list. The way the free traffic works is that you surf the web using their browser, browsing sites that are in their directory (or list) and every 30 seconds you can refresh to a new site. As you continue to do this, it builds up credits for your account that you use for other people who are using their browser to see your site.
It's a cyclical service. You see their site, they see yours. And since you can have as many browsers going (among the many traffic exchanges) as your computer can handle, you can theoretically build up a large quantity of hits on your site in a relatively small period of time.
It seems like a great thing, and for many it fills a very necessary niche, so I can't say that the traffic exchanges are a bad service. I would use them in anything else that I am doing. I would, however, make a very big distinction.
First, I know and respect the techs at Google and I know that when they make a new program for their visitors and webmasters to use, they make it for the benefit of everyone. That is the case with their Adwords and Adsense programs, both targeted to helping webmasters make money through advertising (albeit the opposite ends of the scale).
So when I put an ad on my website, I know that I am offering a service to the advertiser (through Google) to reach their target market. And ethically, I should only be paid when I provide that service (someone clicks through that ad to their site). There are extreme ethical problems if you were to use traffic exchanges with the Adsense program to try and cheat the advertiser out of his hard earned dollars. Plus, if you haven't figured out by now, Google knows what you are doing. They have specific ways of knowing what a legitimate impression is, versus what is a hit generated by a traffic exchange. Your numbers quickly dwindle if you use a hit exchange and you run the risk of being kicked off the program.
Plus, often times you have to go through two websites wasting a full minute of your time before you get one hit directed to your website. Building up over time, eventually it all adds up.
Take, for instance, the "surf contests". This is where they tell you who has racked up the most surfing in the week. These numbers are huge... up to 10,000 page loads. When you add it up, that's over 84 hours of one week that is taken up trying to earn an extra 1,000 hits on your site. Not very worth it to me.
The best way to use the Adsense program is with a website that you have that is established and has a constant stream of visitors going through it. That's the goal of the program, make money off of an existing site and its content.

There are a number of ways that you can attract traffic to your blog. One of the fastest ways is link exchanging or for blogging it is sometimes called friending. This means that basically you link your blog as being friends with other related blogs. Joining communities with like interests is also a great way to attract readers to your blog. Most of the time if they like what you have to say on a particular topic they are willing to head over and see what you have to say on other topics.

This is just one way there are plenty of others such as posting videos on your blog. Funny clips or political clips especially if they are being hosted by larger video sites can provide you with an excellent source of traffic. Friends and family can also be a primary source of traffic. While this is primarily true of personal blogs you can easily create business blogs that are also word of mouth based.

Social networking is a great way to bring traffic to your blog. You start of with a small friends list, this list is expanded by the friends your friends have on their list and so forth. You could easily gain traffic from these lists and thanks to Web 2.0 technology you can post to several social networking sites all at the same time.

If you have a website that already generates traffic make use of the traffic that is already on your site. Simply post the links and menu option to your blog and put excerpts on your website. This is especially useful in business applications where you can simply put a link to the blog post detailing updates to your business and future plans.

These are the biggest ways that you are going to be able to drive traffic to your website. There are other ways such as used email marketing and press releases and other forms of article directory submissions. Basically you use your blog as the link in for the articles. This is again, usually done for business purposes since driving this type of traffic is strictly for the purpose of increasing income.

For the most part if you are blogging for fun you are not really going to be worrying about how many people view your blog. You are going to want to however keep people interested in reading which means you are going to need to come up with topics that are going to have people returning to your blog. This is the second portion of generating traffic and that is the process of keeping the traffic you have already generated returning to your site.

In order to do this your content must be interesting, up to date and written in a manner that is going to make people want to come back and read what you have to say. This is the most important aspect to not only generating but maintaining website traffic on your site.

Adsense is an online advertising program that is run by google, the specialists in search engine technologies, essentially adsense is where you place other peoples ads from adwords on your site. You are then paid a commission by adwords every time someone clicks on the adds displayed on your website.

A word of warning for anyone who is totally new to the concept of adwords and reads above as license to sit all day clicking ads on their own site and making easy money. sorry it most definitely does not work to that theme .Also if you are caught doing it, and take it from me you will be, then all your sites could potentially be shut down for life by google and the other implications are you would find it very hard to ever do business on the web ever again. That my friends is how seriously google consider what they call click fraud and good or bad, right or wrong, they are the masters of the web, so don't say i did not warn you.

Adsense is not a get rich quick scheme as some misguided people believe, so don't expect a fortune in a single day. However, adsense is relatively easy but needs to be done correctly essentially adsense is really a puzzle, you just have to know how to put it together.Adsense is the fastest growing revenue creation tool online, there are literally thousands of advertisers willing to pay big money to get exposure to their products and websites, hence adsense is having a huge impact on the affiliate marketing industry. Adsense is definitely worth pursuing, and I believe the best way is to build a high quality, interesting, useful site, not a junk site trying to generate only $1 a day. However adsense done correctly, is a wonderful opportunity for you to generate additional income for your website or sites and create a lot of passive income streams.

Hopefully you are someone who is interested in making an extra income by using your own skills, learning from others and being enthusiastic? As without these attributes and some determination and persistence thrown in you would be as well ceasing any further interest in making money online. It is more than possible to earn a very good income using adsense ads on your website but how much you earn can all depend on how you set your website up. If your aim is to make a good income online then you really do need to have a professional looking website so your customers will feel like you are a professional and can gain a trust in you and what your website is telling them.

Not just kids but housewives, retirees, mom and dads, who are just staying at home and have never made a dime on the internet have created full-time incomes by simply placing adsense ads on their web site or blog. It is no surprise then that google adsense still remains the top favorable income source for most webmasters. Most webmasters know that adsense generates a sizable source of additional advertising income and by finding a profitable niche to target they can earn a more than substantial income from home.

How To Build

Build content-rich websites featuring information that people can actually use, building on what you have with more of what has worked in the past and consolidating your position. Thereafter you will be able to make money in multiple ways, essentially the more websites you have, the more money you make. Your adsense monetised websites will build income for you passively,it simply grows and grows, relentlessly marching ahead to potentially build you a fantastic income. Therefore you invest more of your time building your online business and keep learning and growing.

Each day, I encourage you to do what the most profitable marketers do and that is build on the niche or theme concept to produce sites of high quality.Ultimately your success means being totally diligent in following these rules and building new web sites continuously. The great thing nowadays is that you can build your income online with no prior experience or education and without doing any of the hard work. There really are no tangible excuses you can come up with for not building your own passive income empire are there?

Now the average joe like you or me actually has a chance to build a mega-site with hundreds of pages and thousands of visitors a day,by taking advantage of the tools, resources and software programs that are readily available on the web and in a lot of cases for free.Ultimately to build a full-time adsense income as opposed to reading about everyone who is requires one simple process, and that is for you to take action.

Opportunities

Out of all the online business opportunities currently available, having your own adsense empire is one of the most profitable.I don't subscribe in any way form or fashion to the negative people who populate so many forums today that 98% of online work at home opportunities are scams. Funnily enough there is a common theme with all these people when you enter into any form of conversation with them. Upon asking them what knowledge they have of the basics of internet marketing i.e domain names, web hosting, content creation, traffic building and monetisation of a site .They in most cases come back with...what's all that about buddy?...or words to that effect.

Hence yes it's a very true statistic that it still remains a relatively small number of people who can claim to earn a full time income from internet marketing. However this is all relative to the numbers who actively use the web which are hundreds of millions and growing.

Like them and possibly you as well, i also tried several get rich quick schemes and have been scammed and left with an extremely bitter taste in my mouth and an empty wallet into the bargain. However what sets me and everyone else earning a full time living online apart from them is really two words persistence and determination.Which at last led me and it can for you as well to find real ways to make money at home with google adsense being one of my main income streams, note I say one of.

However to put all of the above into context you could use that analogy to just about describe any profession which is potentially available to us all in theory.Obviously relative to the usual restrictions of education, skill, aptitude, motivation or age. Therefore the question i would ask is why aren't we all doctors, lawyers, dentists, accountants, surgeons, engineers, mechanics, nurses, gardeners, pro golfers, tennis players, soccer players etc etc etc etc. Well basically for all the reasons mentioned above therefore it really annoys me when every man, woman and dog profers an opinion on earning a living on the web, especially when the majority of those opinions are borne out of pure hearsay and ignorance.

To finish off my rant and confirm my rational on the whole subject opinions are a bit like bottoms everyone has got one ! However all the best financial opportunities require the courage to make a fast decision, before they fade away, before they are gone. Making money with your sites or blogs using adsense is no different. Only thing is, the market is still in its relative infancy and this should present opportunities to you if you know what you are about. At the beginning, this is ok but as your traffic grows, you need to keep an eye out for other opportunities because there are networks out there that will pay you a lot more. Together with our new colleagues at google, we are creating new opportunities for monetization, expansion and innovation in internet marketing, affiliate marketing, adsense and many other areas as the internet continues to grow and develop exponentially.

Conclusion

Google adsense is probably one of the most popular revenue generators in the web. Another great thing about google adsense is that it rewards you for creating sites rich in high-quality, focused content and that in turn makes the net a better place.Google adsense is great for any type of website from penguins related to web sites selling church software. The key to making great money with adsense is building a site with quality content, and then getting traffic to that site. Google's adsense is a superb revenue generating opportunity for small, medium and large web sites. Googles adsense is a really great way to generate money online, and more and more people are starting to realize that.I actually feel like my potential to earn money with adsense is virtually unlimited these days.

Really to make money with adsense is like most things in life offline or online and that is how badly you want it and subject of course to your own desire and determination levels to succeed online.
Just a few hours of your time invested every day and you can build an extra income stream and discover the keys to building a successful income from home. Have you ever thought about setting up a website to earn income using adsense but did not know where to begin then get the edge you need to boost your income by getting the right information.

I will leave you with this final Pearl Of Wisdom.

You can find internet marketing advice in many places but how much of it can you really trust ? At best, the average person is likely to be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of Internet marketing advice available. This is a simple but very effective piece of internet marketing advice for you.Find a person or source of information you trust and stick to it or them like glue like i did .

If you have thought about starting your own website or already have one, and have done any research at all, you have read about the importance of keywords. Everything on the web is driven by keywords. It’s the fuel the Internet runs on.

One of the ways to get great traffic to your website is through the Google Adwords program. You select the keywords you want to bid on and set up the budget you want to use to get traffic based on those keywords from websites that utilize the Google Adsense program and other sources.

There is a tool to help you choose the best keywords to bid on that you definitely need to know about. I just learned about it from a friend, so we are going to learn how to use it together. Open a new browser window and copy and paste this address into your address bar.

If you are not sure about all of the terms used in association with keywords and Google’s Adwords program, click that very first link that says, “Keywords for your ad campaigns”. You can use that as a guide if we get into unfamiliar territory.

In that first paragraph is a link titled, “Learn More”, that gives a more detailed explanation about using the Google Keywords Tool. In this article, I am going to try to give you the information in layman’s terms to make it easier to understand.

As with anything, you should also at some point read the terms of service. It is always a good idea to read the terms of service for any program you are about to use. But we will skip that step for now.

We all think we know which keywords we want to and are targeting with our website. I just had a humbling experience. I have been at this for a long time and have a lot of experience in optimizing websites for keyword content. However, I just clicked the tab at the Google Keyword Tool that says, “Site-Related Keywords “, to extract keywords from one of my own websites and can see that it is not optimized for the keyword I would have chosen.

You may want to do this first. Put in your URL and let it pull out the keywords it finds to be most relevant to your website. You might be as surprised as I was. Now I am going to be re-writing some of the text content at my website before I bid on any Google Adwords. Without the Google Keyword Tool, I would have likely just wasted money.

Make sure your website is optimized for the keywords that you wish to target by analyzing it with the Google Keyword Tool before bidding on your Google Adwords.

Now, using the other tab, “Keyword Variations”, you can type in one keyword phrase or keyword per line and it will give you suggestions as to other keywords and phrases you can bid on that are related to your topic. (I like to type in one keyword or phrase at a time)

The suggestions the Google keyword Tool creates for you are based on statistical data Google compiles from the numerous searches that occur daily through their search engine, so those keywords and phrases are more likely to produce targeted traffic to your website.

As you type in each keyword or phrase and check the results the Google Keyword Tool gives you, look over to the right. You can add the keywords and phrases you might like to bid on. Create your list as you go. You can always edit it down to a few later on.

Once you have your list of keywords and phrases you might want to bid on, you can login to your Google Adwords account and check to see how much it will cost you for each of them. Then you can decide how to spend your budget wisely. Nothing replaces good research. The Google Keyword Tool takes a lot of the guesswork out of buying Google Adwords and I applaud them for creating this great tool.

Now, what they do not say anywhere at the Google Keyword Tool website, is that you can use this tool to analyze your competitor’s websites as well. Go to Google and type in your targeted keyword or phrase. Copy the URL of the top 10 results. Analyze each of them using the “Site Related Keywords” tab at the Google Keywords Tool.

By doing this, you will see what keywords and phrases their websites are optimized for. If you want to compete with them, you need to optimize your website in a similar way and you may want to start bidding on keywords and phrases that match those that were pulled from competing websites.

Follow success and it will follow you. Do what successful people are doing and you are likely to also achieve success. The Google Keyword Tool can help you do that.

You have a beautiful website up and running but you are not making any money yet. Why? The answer is simple - your website has little or no traffic. In order to get traffic to your website, you have to promote it. Here are the Top 10 ways to promote your website:

1. Article Writing
One way to bring traffic to your site is to write articles relevant to your niche and submit them to online article directories and e-zines. Articles are an inexpensive, easy way to reach your target audience and generate more traffic. Your articles should be search engine optimized, which will give you a good Google ranking and therefore more viewers. The articles should be informative, not sales-y. An article should not sound like an ad, or it will turn people off. The word count should be between 450 and 1,000. To submit your articles to online directories, you can use article submission and distribution services. Just be sure you submit your article to the correct category, or it could be banned from the site.

2. Banner Advertising
A banner is a graphic displayed on a webpage that links to the advertiser's website. The size is usually 468x60 pixels. Using banner ads is a great way to bring potential customers to your site. You can also track the ads, so you know how many people the ad reached.

3. Blogging
A blog is an online journal or log. Originally, it was a platform for people to record their thoughts, but it has turned into something more. Now people use blogs to promote products and services and increase traffic to their websites. Blogging is a great way to advertise because the pages are frequently updated which results in more attention from the search engines. It's a good idea to use blog submission services to submit your blogs to online blog directories. This will increase your blog's page rank with the search engine.

4. Classified Ads
Online classified ads are better than newspaper classifieds because they can reach more viewers. It's inexpensive and sometimes even free. These ads are indexed by search engines and are a good way to generate more traffic. Online ads tend to be longer than newspaper ads because they do not charge by the line. Some of them also target local audiences as well. Craigslist is an example of a free online classified ad site that sorts the ads into localities.

5. Directories
Online directories provide web users with links to various websites that are categorized by topic. Getting links to your site also helps your page rank with the search engines. One of the most popular directories is Yahoo. Some directories allow you to submit your site for free while others charge a fee. You should submit to directories that cater to your niche. It's better to submit your site manually than to use an automatic directory submission service.

6. Email Marketing
Email marketing is another form of online direct marketing. Email messages are used to advertise to potential customers.Opt-in lists are used to generate leads. These lists are comprised of email addresses of people who signed up for an offer or newsletter. Using opt-in lists for email marketing has a 3-5% success rate.

7. One-Way Links
One-way links, or non-reciprocal links, are when the link to your site is displayed on another website, but you do not display that website's link on your site. Getting one-way links will improve your site's ranking and traffic. One way to get one-way links is by one-way link submissions, which is submitting your URL to online directories that have a high page rank. There are automated directory submission services, but they do charge a fee and they don't guarantee how many one-way links you'll get.

8. Press Releases
A press release is a statement issued to a news media source (like a newspaper, television or radio station) to announce a newsworthy event. Using press releases is an effective way to bring attention to your website, on a local, national or global level. There are press release distribution companies that will submit your press releases to global media channels and popular news sites such as MSN News.

9. Search Engine Submission
Search engines are websites that index other websites and display those sites when users type in relevant keywords to search for information. Search engines use programs to scan the web for new and updated pages. Every website on the Internet is listed on a search engine. The sites are listed on the search results in order of page rank. Each search engine uses its own criteria to determine rank. The most popular search engines are Google, Yahoo and MSN. Start by submitting your website to these three and then you can begin submitting to smaller search engines such as AltaVista and AllTheWeb. It is best to submit your site to the search engines manually rather than using an automated search engine submission program.

10. Social Bookmarking
Bookmarks are stored webpages for the user to view at a later date. Social bookmarking is an online bookmarking tool that allows users to save, organize and even share their bookmarks with other online users. The bookmarks may be made public, so that everyone can see them, or they can be private, meaning only the person who saved them can see them. Or, they can be shared only with a specified group of friends. Use social bookmarking submission to bring your website to your targeted market. To submit your site, post the link on forums, blogs and message boards of various social networking sites like Digg. You'll have to do this manually but it is worth the time and effort you put into it.

For the most part people get excited about the potential of mlm income, but generally haven't done much, if any, research and don't know the real scoop. And they go "ga-ga" about publicly traded companies based on glowing information from the companies trying to recruit them, and through them, others.

By day I am a 401(k) specialist at a large financial company. I was there for all the fall-out from the Enron/Worldcom fiasco.

Enron was a publicly-traded company, subject to SEC rules and regulations ... yet, they STILL cooked the books. Same for Worldcom. If you can't really trust the information released in legal documents put out by publicly traded companies, how much stock can you put in the self-serving promotional statments put out by OTHER companies?

MLM companies, for instance, give out totally ridiculous numbers about sales and retention rates and the amounts being made by distributors. You can't just innocently believe what they say. No doubt some of them tell the truth. But many don't.

When a company quotes "retention rate," there are a hundred different ways to figure retention rate. It stands to reason that a company will figure it in a way that yields the result they like best. The safest thing for you to do is to choose a company based on results that YOU can see or that YOU can actually verify.

When you dedicate your life to building your business with a company, you should actually interview a number of distributors with that company and ask about the work they do and the system they use and their actual earnings. Your best plan is to read any company-published promotion with a grain of salt.

A lot of people start in network marketing with the idea that they want to get in position to make a lot of money. They've heard of people earning 7 figures a month. And it's true. It has happened. However, the key is to understand the numbers.

A few years ago, a report was published about the accountant statements of 7 well-known, publicly-traded MLM companies. This report showed that what these companies pay out to the distributor base ranged from a low of 25% of gross income to a high of about 42% of gross income.

Think about this. You'll always have just a portion of profits to the distributor base. Let's be generous and call it 40%. If you have a heavy hitter at that company making $1 million a month, what does that mean? Well, it's for their work. If that company pays out 40% of the gross, the fact is, the LESS that heavy hitter is paid, the MORE that the part-timers get paid. And those folks account for 95% of everybody in MLM, and they are the ones who have the dream.

People get so excited when someone gets a huge paycheck. In real life, it's often a very bad indicator for your potential to be successful in that company.

These subjects are covered in more depth in the ebook "Success In 10 Steps" by Michael Dlouhy. After years on the market and a ton of downloads, this ebook is now a staple which many MLMers use as a lead-generator to build their business.

Part of the problem with buying leads is, you never know for sure what you are getting, and mistakes can be very expensive. You quickly learn to generate your own leads with "Success In 10 Steps", targeting current MLMers who aren't satisfied with their results.

Network marketers love the MLM stories, and it has become very popular. Plus, the author never talks about any specific company or product, so it has become a great lead generator for people with many different MLM companies, including me.

You can get a free copy of the classic "Success in 10 Steps" ebook at http://michaeldlouhy.net website.

Many a blogger today are smiling to the bank because of the way the trade in blogging has gone, it is one of the cheapest things to set up on the internet and for those who know they will readily move up on it and cash in on the cash cow called blog.

Now how do you monetize your blog for dollars?

Many Weblogs today are running head to head with themselves and looking for that tiny little space to place what today has become the bed rock of blogging adverts. With adverts lining your blog you find people wanting to click away on your blog, the kind of adverts that appear on your blog page, attracts the kind of money you hope to make from your blog, adverts that carry big time company logo’s like coca cola etc are been rushed by people and to think that the spaces are small, then imagine the competition involved for such little spaces.

Also you can monetize your blog when you get little or no competition from your area of specialization, everyone in that niche market see you as the guru and then the big guns come calling ,what do you do than to sell off your blog and build another one that will replace the one you just off loaded. Many lazy internet watchers are on the lookout for such blogs where the owners are offered large sums of money to sell off there blogs So if you have a niche area that you are very good at why not make a show of it by looking for traffic to visit your site the more traffic that your blog gets the higher your chances of reaping it off.

Website Optimization

Page Optimization

This process is to make sure that your website works in the most effective way possible in relation to search engines.Take this steps to optimize your page:

* Your keywords must be in your page title. Put the most important keyword phrase close to the beginning of the page title. Do not put your site title on every page of your site unless you are really trying to brand that name. In that case, it still is usually best to place the site name at the end of the page titles.

• Make your site titles shorter. Shorter titles are usually better than really long ones.

* Use keyword phrases in the page title instead of simply keywords. Using keyword phrases in the page title can help you pick up multiple search phrases. For example, professional forex traders and brokers services helps me obtain good rankings for (1) forex traders, (2) forex brokers , (3) professional forex, and (4)professional forex services.

* Meta tags are not very important, but they can help you in some cases. The meta description should be a sentence to a paragraph describing the page contents.Make sure you write great meta description as the meta tag can be seen in the search results. Grab the human eyes there

* The meta keywords tag is probably not worth the time to make, but if you do make one, it should contain your primary keyword and its common misspellings and synonyms. Each keyword phrase in the keywords tag should be comma separated.

• Use a single, descriptive H1 header on your page containing the keyword phrases similar to those you targeted in the page title. This helps reinforce the page title.

* Use descriptive subheaders (H2 or H3) before every paragraph or every few paragraphs. This improves usability and helps define what the page is about to search engines without making the page look like it was written for a search engine.

* Use bulleted lists and bolding to break up content and make it easier to read.

* Write your content for human consumption. If you write exclusively for search engines, the pages will read poorly and nobody will want to look at them.

Home Page Optimization

In addition to page optimization for search engines, it is also important to optimize your site's home page for customers in order to make sure it functions efficiently.

* Make sure your home page builds credibility and directs consumers to the most important parts of your site.

* Target your most competitive keyword phrase with the home page or with a page that is directly linked to from the home page.

* Link to the major theme pages from your home page.

* Link to your home page from every page of your site. Include your site name and/or the home page's primary keyword phrase in the text links pointing to it.

• If you think your site is being filtered out of the search results for being too focused on a word or phrase, you may want to make the link to your home page just say something like "home".

Site Optimization

Your home page is just the starting point for what will probably be a very multi-layered and multifaceted website. As such, it is important to look at every page your site contains to ensure a cohesive, streamlined design that works well with search engines as well as customers. Keep the following in mind:

* Use text-based navigation.

* If you use graphic navigation, use descriptive alt text for your image links, and link to your primary pages from every page of your site using footer text links.

* Use descriptive/keyword-rich breadcrumb navigation to help search engines understand the structure of your site.e.g., home page link(use keywords in it) > level 1 > level 2 >page I am on now

* Use a site map to help search engines spider through your site.

* Whenever possible, use descriptive text when linking between pages of your site.

* Link to other resources that improve your user's experience. If you reference research and trusted sources within your content, readers will think of your content as information, rather than simply being sales-oriented.

* Deep link to related articles and content from within the active content section
of your page copy.

* If you want your site to convert, assume many site visitors will ignore the global navigation. Actively guide people toward conversion from within the active content area of your website.

• Use CSS to improve the look and feel of your pages.Put it in an external file.

We know about the younger generation using MySpace and the big hit now is Facebook but there are so many more which I will list. Take advantage of these sites and market yourself. Use it as an advertising platform!

I get many emails a day asking me what the benefits of these sites. Most people think of them as just a place to get on and connect with others. That is true and the basic concept of the system but there is so much more.

Reaching out to people we know, or once knew can spread the word regarding our business enterprise. However there are so many other benefits to these sites.

Join!

Join these sites and have a look around. You will see some people with a huge list of friends. Mind explosion! How did they get so many friends? That is an easy one. They were invited by someone else. Don’t panic. I will explain that one too. We need to build your page first.

Your Page

Remember that you are a business person. You want friends, you want contacts, but you have a business to run. Begin with the facts about who you are. Where were you born? What schooling, certifications, or degrees do you have? What are your accomplishments? List your business and link.

Build a page describing your website detailing what it entails, the products (services) that you offer, and any special deals. Entice others to go visit it.

Don’t stop at one page. Some sites offer the ability to add more pages where you can add blogs, articles, special deals you have coming up, or mentoring programs you may have. Other sites have areas for you to post your blogs in full form adding more exposure for those who can view your writing quickly.

Places like MySpace have Bulletins. These Bulletins allow you to post special information to your group of friends.

The point is to build upon these sites and add to them allowing you more opportunities. Profiles and blogs can be viewed by anyone. They do not need to be a friend to see these. However building a network of friends is paramount to your success. As mentioned before this is not as difficult as it may seem. One friend can lead to many, many friends. Each site is different but we will look at Facebook and how easy it is to acquire these friends.

Acquiring Friends

Start with the one friend. Now look at their friends and view their profiles to see if they are like minded people. If they are someone that matches your interest send a request to them with a note telling them why you would like to be their friend. Keep doing this.

This snowballs over and over and before you know it you have many of them but just having them is not enough! Establishing repose with them is what you want.

The pace of business today is positively supersonic. There doesn't seem to be enough time for anything anymore, and businesses of all sizes are working harder and faster all the time.

It's important to work smarter, too. And that means when you have to choose an important vendor for an essential service, you need to slow down and make a deliberate, careful decision. This is particularly important when you are getting ready to put your company's face on the World Wide Web in a new or newly-refurbished web site.

Before listing the ten key things to look for in a good web designer, let's define a few terms. Even though you may encounter variants on the name – like web developer, web artist, webmaster and so forth - we're talking about an individual who, alone or with some assistance, is going to "get you up and running." This means more than simple design.
Use Web CEO for Capturing the Number 1 Position in Google!

You may need someone who can help you conceive and write copy. You may need someone who can plan smart site structure. You may need help getting a domain registered, files uploaded, e-mail accounts set up, and other technical details. You will definitely need someone who can do just about anything, or quickly find out how, or have an associate who can at the ready.

With these caveats, and serious encouragement to shop around for price and professionalism, here are the ten things to look for, in rough order of importance:

1) Experience
You will need someone with all the techniques, tools and tricks that will help you prepare your web site and accomplish your online goals. You should confirm that the candidate knows the entire alphabet soup of protocols, web markup languages and coding utilities: HTML, XML, CSS, PHP and so on. Ask all prospects for a portfolio, ask if they can "hand code," find out how many years of experience each has, etc.

When you interview designers, on the phone and/or in person, you will get these answers swiftly enough. But take due time to get more important insights as to the individual's character, level of expertise - and how well your personalities mesh. You will be working closely together, after all.

2) Customer Service Orientation
As important as experience is a mindset and attitude of making customer service a priority. If a designer/developer is too busy to answer e-mails or phone calls, will they be able to keep the production schedule? Ask for references, and make a point of actually calling them. Ask the prospect's previous clients if the web developer was responsive, on time and effective.

3) Original copy and Graphics
Creating professional and 100% original web graphics separates the adults from the kids every time. Most anyone can do some "quick and dirty" copy writing and slap it on a page with some pictures and hyperlinks. On the other hand, a talented and veteran designer will demonstrate knowledge of page layout, have a way with color and know how to place elements on a page for best appearance and web site performance. Take a good look at a number of the sites each prospect has built, and make sure no one is using "templates" or "starter pages" that come with some software programs or are available (even free) on the Internet.

4) Creativity
You need to decide right away (before you even start talking to designers) just how much the designer you find will be involved in the conceptual process. Your designer may need to help you with some of the "big picture" questions, such as marketing, web copy writing (for search engines) and how to generate traffic. You want someone creative, but not a "diva" who won't follow instructions or work with your ideas to bring them to fruition.

5) Marketing Experience
The easiest way to find out if your prospective web designers are good at marketing web sites is to view their site and their portfolio. That you are considering selecting them to design your site is a good first indicator that their designs convert. You'll further want to ensure that you can find what you're looking for on their site quickly and easily and that you can do the same on some of the sites in their portfolio.

6) Cost
Pricing for a professional web site of 10-15 pages with the standard features runs all the way from $500 to $5000. It may be that your idea is so complicated that you might have to pay for an estimate. For a full picture of all the costs involved in the project, ask for all the costs to be broken out individually - domain name and hosting, graphic design work, marketing fees and web development matters.

You may need to place a deposit if the job is large enough, and you should have all payment terms worked out before work starts. You can work out an hourly rate, a flat fee or some combination of the two. Leave nothing unstated or assumed: Get every detail in writing, including deadlines and how many revisions are included.

7) Job Timeline
After you ask the developers how long the process will take, make a point of asking references if the project was, in fact, completed on time. A basic web site may take as little as a week, while more involved and technically challenging sites could take a month or more. You need to know what the real-world turnaround time is for the specific people you are considering.
Forget Expensive PPC Advertising - There is an Alternative!

8) Communication Skills
Don't hire anyone who insists on speaking to you in "computer-ese" or won't explain unknown terminology. You have to communicate with this person about things that are important to your very survival, so you need to be clear at all times. If you cannot establish a good working relationship, it won't matter if you have Leonardo Da Vinci working on your code, it just won't work out.

9) Full Service
There may be one or two things that your designer/developer cannot do, but for the most part you should be able to find a reasonably-priced professional who can handle just about everything. If the designer needs help installing a particularly complicated shopping cart, or your site requires some heavy database programming, it is reasonable to expect that your designer might need some assistance. All of this should be spelled out in the pricing, of course (see #6, above), and you shouldn't be surprised by anything your designer is telling you. If you are, you overlooked something in this list!

10) Availability
Are these prospects full-time web professionals? Or are they moonlighting from some other job, even a completely unrelated one? It may be that a part-time web designer who's working at McDonald's really can do a great job for you, but will he/she be available to meet with you during normal business hours? No matter what decision you make - full-time pro, part-timer or student - you must be able to get hold of your designer.

Finally, do you homework before speaking with anyone. You don't need to be an expert - after all, you're hiring help, because you're not - but you need to know enough to know what you're hearing. If you are uncertain of your ability to keep on top of what's going on, get a fríend with at least basic web knowledge to help you locate, interview and assess candidates.

Use all of this "head" knowledge to narrow down your list of candidates, but don't be afraid to use your intuition ("heart" knowledge) to get a feel for each person's honesty, integrity and character. Using this mix of study, inquiry, discussion ,and feel, you will start to develop judgments about the candidates. Following this procedure thoroughly should result in your finding a good match for your Internet needs.

Berlusconi's Mediaset wants millions in copyright spat

Copyright infringement accusations emerged from Italy as a TV company called Mediaset lobbed a 500 million euros lawsuit at Google.

Perhaps Italy's Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, sees Viacom's ongoing action against Google and YouTube a viable strategy. His firm followed in Viacom's footsteps, seeking a big payday from YouTube and its parent over allegations of copyright infringement.

Bloomberg said the case hit the courts in Rome, where Mediaset may try to make a play for supposed lost advertising revenue above and beyond the 500 million euros demanded. Mediaset claimed over 325 hours of their content hit YouTube, based on an assessment in June.

YouTube denied the allegations, pointing to its policy banning the uploading of copyrighted content, as well as its practice of taking down offending content upon notification.

That practice stems from the US DMCA provision that offers a safe harbor to websites that remove such content when instructed to by the content owner. It's a defense Viacom, and now Mediaset, will try to dismantle in the courtroom.

There is little to suggest the big content companies really recognize the shift in societal expectations now that broadband connections and easy-to-use video services exist.

People used to gossip about their favorite shows face to face. But there is always something missing from being told about a funny situation on an episode of a series as opposed to seeing it.

When someone spots a moment they think is worth sharing beyond talking about it, they head to the Internet. Content companies despise this, their fans showing such interest, and the prospect of some website profiting from that broader, unauthorized exposure of their work.

The problem sounds more like it's the media and not the masses. It's 2008, a slew of companies from software powers like Adobe and Microsoft down to the smallest of startups have ideas on making videos a profitable vehicle for ads and distribution.

But the media companies, long accustomed to getting the whole hog, don't want to settle for pieces of it even if they come from a vastly bigger animal. They want it all, fans be damned, copyright is the corporate shield, and they'll go home carried on that shield before they back off and let fans be fans.
